I have a 2008 Roadsmith trike bought just a few months back used from a private party. I have a leak. I jacked up and crawled up under with a flashlight to find a leak from the differential area. I did find the leak, it is the cv joint on left side right where it goes into the rear end.
I suspect that the cv joint seal has gone bad and needs replacing. I have never done a cv joint on even a car before. I'm mechanically inclined, but not in this area.I was wondering if anyone on here has had that same problem and what a trike shop might had charged you to get it repaired.
The trike has 59k miles on it now.
I have been having a differential oil leak for some time. I have cleaned off the differential very thoroughly to find a leak. I finally found it. It is coming out on the left side right where the cv joint goes into differential right past the first fitting. Is there a way to just take off the cv joint, pulling it out to replace a bad seal or o-ring without labor intense removing the rear end?
Not wanting to do that! Is this a defect of that part that Roadsmith can help me with? Please help!
This is not badmouthing any conversion, just looking for friendly input from Roadsmith or the trike rider community. Thanks in advance.
