For you high millage riders out there I was wondering about how long the rear tires last. I would guess most of us have not worn out a set of rear tires yet as they seem to not wear at all. I'm sure there is variation by what type of trike but just curious anyway. Thanks.

Bought a set of Michelin tires for my GL 1800 Hannigan when I first bought my trike.
Just put on a set of Michelins on because of the born date on the tires. Didn't come close to wearing them out. I have 63,000 on the trike, but, can't remember when I put my first set on.
I believe born date more important than wear on tires, specially if you can't wear them out. The big question is, how old are your tires on your trike?

Peter A., that's a great idea. Outside may look great, inside could be the problem area. Saw one tire coming apart on a Honda car, my daughter-in-law mother's car, the front look like is was shredding, they were very old. Thread look good, but tire was very old.
I look at it this way, for a few dollars, it could save your life! Peace of mind is what I call it!

When doing your annual matainance, let the sun shine on your tire and ck for dry rot sidewall cracks. Diferent climates determan diferent replacement times. Pump it up to 30-35 lbs, it will show up more noticeable. JMO

I lot of times the Sun will ruin tires [Dry them out] .... Park a trailer in the same spot on your driveway and see that happens to uncovered tire's on the Sun side after a summer or two.....

A person who worked with tires wrote me that many times "old age" will not show on a tire, the damage is inside, and will cause the tire to fail.
To me, if you see stress cracks on a tire, that is not good and you should stop riding the trike/bike, NOW, and replace the tire(s). I believe it should never get to that point, it could cause serious injuries to you, a Family member, a friend, or someone you don't even know!

The original set had 69,697 miles when I had them replaced.
The second set had 61,231 miles
The third set has 34,638 miles on them and look good.
