I finally got to start my rebuilt 1600 today and noticed I had 80 lbs of oil pressure at 3500 rpm's. i did install EMPI oil boost kit because I am running an external filter. The oil pressure seems excessive to me is it to high?

I run about 60 psi at 3500 with T6 oil
80 with 20/50
I have a high volume oil pump
what wt oil are you running?
Thank you
Bob
10 psi per 1000rpm.
If you are using the factory oil cooler and or oil cooler ports via adapter then you dont want high pressure.
The cooler valving works on pressure.
Cold oil equals high pressure and dont go to cooler.
Hot oil equals low pressure and valve open flow to cooler.
If you change the spring to boost the pressure you are effectivly turning off the oil cooler.
Full flow mods and not using the factory ports or valving? No problem. Massive pressure is over working the oil a bit, makes the oil a little hotter and shorter lived.
