    Default Road Hawk literature

I was wondering if anyone out there has any documentation for a Road Hawk trike they were made by the trike shop but they haven't made them since 2006. I have a 1994 and would love to get a wiring diagram and any other documentation I can find. I tried Google but couldn't find anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Try contacting "THE TRIKE SHOP" in Daytona Beach. They were part of the original "VTRIKE" business. They know alot about them and may have info they are willing to share. If you did not know their company is now know as ROADSMITH

Gloria, my wife, has a Road Hawk that had some minor electrical problems. I called Roadsmith in Minnesota on advice from the Roadsmith page on this board and talked to Mark - he is the Honda/VW tech up there and helped a lot. Check on the Roadsmith page. They are pretty good as responding to questions.

As far as documentation, not much is available. PM me with your email - I can send you a spec sheet and info on a Road Hawk I downloaded from a Honda dealer in OK (the RH was probably a trade-in) and a sheet from the Trike Shop (now called Roadsmith) on the VW trikes they made.

BTW, is the pic in your avatar an actual picture of your trike? That pic is of a Runabout, not a Roadhawk. Gloria had a '91 Runabout that she loved, (pic below) and now has 2007 Roadhawk (also pic below) that is not as loved. Nothing wrong with it, it's black (which she doesn't like) and it's just not the trike she remembered. The roadhawk has more modern styling, is a bit longer and according to her just feels different. She saw your avatar and said, "That's what I want if it's an automatic." If you would like to upgrade to an actual newer Roadhawk she might be interested in some sort of trade deal.

    Default Runabout not Road Hawk

My avatar is actually my trike I just got it and I thought something was weird because I expected it was bigger, I am 6'2" and about 270 and I am a little cramped on this trike, the guy I bought it from didn't actually say it was a road hawk he just let me believe it when I said I have always wanted a automatic road hawk. I love the fact it is an automatic but wish it was bigger, all that being said I could possibly be interested in an upgrade what do you think your wife would want in cash besides my trike for a trade? Mine looks a lot like her first one and I like them both but the actual road hawk is just so damn bad ass

I also think mine is a 91 not 94 like I was told, looking at your wife's old trike mine is a spitting image except her seats were white and mine are black seats

    My email is perrone88007@yahoo.com

Thank you also for the information.

I personally like the Road Hawk, but it is her ride, not mine. We thought the Road Hawk would be good for her, but it turns out she likes the size and feel of the Runabout. The Road Hawk was designed to fit larger folks - it is a foot longer in the middle, the pilot has noticeably more room.

Gloria is a great believer in lights, so I added some LED driving lights, LED running/brake lights in the rear between the tail lights, and on the fenders. The fender strips are also turn signals in addition to running and brake lights.

Changed the mirrors from in the picture so they aren't such large flags, and added an electrical box that powers front and rear cigarette style 12v outlets and 12v coaxial ports. She is at work at the moment, but I'll have her read your post when she gets home and see what she thinks.

Oh, no! She is very interested. She sent you an email, but it might not have gone through. Gloria has been house/dog sitting, and she only has her phone. On top of that, she isn't very tech savvy. I'll send an email after I call her about 7:00pm tonight.

Just to let you know I plan on having the electrical gone through completely and get it tuned up it is running a little rich probably because of our elevation since it went from sea level to over 4000 ft. I was told the tranny was completely gone through as well as the motor only a few hundred miles ago. Also I know my pic doesn't show the tour box on the back I do have it the previous owner didn't like it I also have the drivers head rest.

So I haven't been home much but when I drove it last the only things I noticed needing attention are the rear lights and the speedo, but I will have my mechanic completely go through the electrical and get everything working as it should. If you or your wife have any questions feel free to contact me my personal email is: perrone88007@yahoo.com and work is: mike.perrone@hayssen.com

Default Just purchased a 2007 Black Roadhawk

This is for Don, as I said I just purchased the vehicle on the subject line from a dealer in

Schenectady, NY. I am presently arranging to have it shipped to me in TX. This will be my first Roadhawk or any trike for that matter. So I was Googling to gather some knowledge when I ran across this post. Well it turns out that there are many similarities on this strike regarding the modifications that you wrote in your post, as follows:

It has the front and back 12v cigarette power points.

Different streamed lines rear view mirrors (the originals with the integrated blinkers are with the bike in the trunk.

It had the led strips on both fenders and between the tail light.

It has a little over 12k miles on it now. The title is from Missouri signed in 2015 with

11+k miles I think I calculated a little over 800 mile had been put on it since 2015 to now.

Once again I think this is more than a coincidence.

It would be great if you still had the information that you mentioned in your original post or, any history that you can send me. By the way I was told this bike has the 2300 engine could you confirm this for me. And it is an auto trans.

    My email address is bcsynergy@yahoo.com

Thanks in advance for your time and assistance in this matter.

    Bill

    Default Been a while

I know it's been a while since we communicated but it's been a crazy few years, and that was without the addition of covid which my wife and I both got March of 2020. I finally got my trike running and legal it sat for a long time because of electrical problems and I was never home long enough to do it.

Well I ended up getting the whole trike re-wired from front to back every wire. I had a fuse box installed up front on the frame under where the brake pedal is, so the fuses are very easy to access. I stilll need to get a new GPS speedometer because the sending unit pretty much fell apart in my mechanics hands so I will be getting that payday all the other gauges were replaced along with the stereo (although I need to find a better way to secure it) I had to have the headlight/horn/turn signal switch unit replaced. So there is still some minor stuff I need done but at least now I can ride.

Hope all is well with you and your family.

    Take care,

    Mike Perrone

Been away from the board for a while, just check in here and there and missed a lot on Trike Talk. Our black Raodhawk was traded in for a Can Am Spyder, and the one you have sure sounds like the mods I did to it.

Check under the seat on the right side near the battery. I installed a fuse box for power distribution, mounted it in a plastic container to keep road debris from it. Also did the power points, LED strip lights as you mentioned and lights on the bottom of the front boot. Here is a picture of the fusebox and the rear lights in the dark garage:

I had left the literature in the trunk for the next owner, if it is the one we had it papers weren't passed on

Well the wiring seems to be good now, I have everything going to a fuse box mounted to the frame near the neck and everything is fused. Now I am having to replace the front wheel, I had the tire changed and they showed me where it was rusted through, I will get that done this weekend, since I'm not home much during the week. I also need to replace the front end They showed me that is worn out pretty bad where the axle goes through the legs, that will probably be a winter job once I find out what size it is.

I'm glad all seems to be well with you. I sure would have loved to have that beautiful Roadhawk but maybe down the road I will get one. My wife totaled our main car so now we have to buy another one, and of course we had just made the last payment, at least she wasn't hurt too bad vehicles will come and go but she is unreplaceable.

    Take care and happy triking

I also need to replace the front end They showed me that is worn out pretty bad where the axle goes through the legs, that will probably be a winter job once I find out what size it is.

I'm glad all seems to be well with you. I sure would have loved to have that beautiful Roadhawk but maybe down the road I will get one. My wife totaled our main car so now we have to buy another one, and of course we had just made the last payment, at least she wasn't hurt too bad vehicles will come and go but she is unreplaceable.

    Take care and happy triking
My name is Dick Lindholm, founder of The Trike Shop, now Roadsmith. I had a Trike Shop in Daytona for 22 years before retiring. I had a RoadHawk and my wife had a Runabout which i just sold 6 months ago.

I have a BRAND NEW Complete Front End with axle, nuts and Dual Shocks i designed for a smoother ride. I kept this just in case i needed it but i sold both trikes. I know the Factory does now have the parts needed to build a new one. I would sell you this $2500 plus shipping. It is the only one in the World. Call me at 386-299-8081

I will probably have to wait for a couple months since I now have to buy another car since my wife had a accident that totaled our main car. I will hit you up when I do have the money to see if you still have it.

    Thank you,

    Mike

Hello, I hope all is well with you and your family, I am writing because I am considering selling my Runabout trike. The transmission went out on it, I got another VW automatic type 3 transmission but I know I will never have time to get to it, especially since I have a Roadhawk now which my wife enjoys riding with me on.

Since it is just collecting dust I figured maybe I should let someone who has the time get it back on the road and enjoy it. I had all the electrical completely redone with a fuse box, it has a new GPS speedometer in the same spot as the original one. I have just been kicking it around and haven't put serious thought into it but I figured I would see if you might be interested.
