Clutch Cable set up?

Hello, What kind of set up are others using for your clutch cables? If my 2 pictures loaded, this is what I have. On the motor end, the cable is cut and rejoined with a barrel cable clamp. The U bolt clamp is there as extra comfort for me. This is the 4 set up I've tried and it seems to be working so far. But I'm interested in what others are doing, Thanks for your time.

I have seen lots of them cable clamped together like that. Seems to work. I would not do it with a heavy hot rod clutch.

As long as the Bowden tube is set up right things should be good.

Hello, After breaking 3 cables in 2 years my mechanic figured out how to modify my idea into something that worked. But I'm wondering what others are doing to make the cable work in a distance shorter than the factory cable. Thanks for your time

The most common thing to use is the dune buggy hydraulic set up.

I saw one of those on a trike at my mechanics. It is a clean set up and I like it a lot. But, I have just about got everything set up so the dog and I can travel a bit. With my serious lack of mechanical ability I decided that I can fix a broken cable on the side of the road easier than I could work on a hydaulic system. Also, with a real limited budget, I can carry a spare cable a lot cheaper. I'm wondering if I could make a cable with the right ends and to length. It would make a road side repair much easier. Thanks for your time

If you want to make up a spare you might consider going to a local builder's supply and picking up a 'spindle loop' (see image below) of appropriate size for the pedal end of your clutch cable. With a good swage fitting to secure the cut cable you can make a clean unit that will last. If available, the extra bit of cost for stainless parts will be worth it.
