Well I brought it home . The bike is DEAD. no click no sound. The lights all work the horn etc. even the built in radio. But if you hit the starter no sound , I would think you would still hear the solenoid click. since you must be sitting on the bike kickstand up, brakes on, I need someone to short out the solenoid . HERE it is Not a trike yet anyway

John,

Two obvious places to start.

1. Check kill (run/stop) switch for malfunction.

2. On most of these you have to pull the brake lever to start. There is an actuating switch in the lever housing which opens current to the starter. Check for continuity when the switch is open.

Odds are it is one of these two places.

The kick stand switch is working because I see the light com on to say it is down . Sounds like the solenoid is not ticking . Now I agree with you sounds to simple to be that starter. I would think even it it was dead you would hear something . We are going to start with the starter motor to see if it at least turns. then move to the solenoid and if that works it has to be of the safety things like you said . I checked all the connectors and fuses This unit has never been started . Right out of the box. I can't even smell gas in the tank and there is none in the in line filter

Looks good I hope you find the problem. I wonder if it might need gas in it. Some type of relay off the fuel gage or sending unit. Never heard of one before but you never know.

That is one cool-looking beast even on 2 wheels! Any love on a low battery? Maybe there's enough to light the panel but not enough to push the starter?

I am using a booster battery pack. I used it to start a car last week. Seems like it is Electrically dead not started motor dead. Fuses all look good. Damp and raining here for the next 3 days. Friday looks good.

Had to do a search to see what a V3 was, very cool. There is a guy in my area that advertises parts and repairs for those bikes, and never gave them much thought until now. Interesting body lines, keep us posted!

John, JIB on here.....she has the can-am spyder has the Shapero (sp) Qlink's version of the V3. She had some battery starting problems at one time. Maybe she will know what it is. You can look her up and PM her.

Thank u I need to talk to people that have them . there is a button under that cover tha has me ?????

Well it is in pieces . The motor is fine I put a little Marvel Mystery oil in the plug hole and cranked it by hand , very smooth with no plug . I replaced the plug has good compression. I shorted out the solenoid and nothing . Next I will remove the starter and bench test it.

John,
when you turn the key on and plug[spark] grounded and you crank by hand. Are you getting any spark at all?

I need to wait til I can turn it over with a key. There are so many safety switches that it is a 3 man job to try that . Rear brake must be on full, kickstand up kill switch on ,key on. Got to get anew battery and a starter maybe the solenoid too.

John - you can just jump from the battery (or jump pack) to the starter, that will bypass everything to let you know if the starter is good or not.

shorting out the solenoid does the same thing. The solenoid sends 12V to the + terminal of the starter motor when the coil is energized by the starter button. so if you jump the terminals it acts like the starter is being sent 12 v directly

Nice....loved mine (ok, it's still in the garage, poor dusty bike). The original batteries that come with those bikes is really bad. If it had any fuel in it i'd tell you to clear out the carbs & fuel lines. Mine requires that any time it sits for a long period of time. Let me pull the paperwork to see what I've had done to the sapero.

I am shorting out the Starter rely with a screwdriver. by doing the you are hooking the wires + and - directly to the motor by passing all electronics. old trick I learned when we wanted to steal dads car with no key.
