Default Love Jugs Mighty Mite Install with Pics & Reviews

First, I want to thank Kevin and Randy for their time and patience with this purchase and install. Both are great who willingly share their knowledge and experience. Simply put, I can't say enough!

I ordered the Love Jugs from Randy HERE and they arrived in two days. Great Customer Service.

After looking things over, I decided to jump in and give it a go. Seat and tank removal were simple and straight forward.

Mounting the frame mount to the frame initially caused some concern. As with most folks, I do not like sharp edges around any wiring. I was concerned with the loose ends of the clamps cutting into the wiring. Solution, small zip ties to hold the loose ends of the clamps down on the clamp itself. You can see the zip ties below.

The next pic shows the opposite side of the mount above.

My next issue was trying to retain the cylinder strap, as I didn't want to give the dealer a reason to void my warranty. I cut the horn mount portion of the bracket off flush with the cylinder strap portion, which allowed enough room to retain it. The picture below shows the strap with the horn mount removed.

A pic of the clearance between the cylinder strap and the Love Jugs Frame mount.

The picture above isn't the best for showing the clearance, but there is 3/16" of clearance between the two. There is room to get an additional 1/16" - 1/8" of clearance if needed. I thought I would see how it works as is and adjust if necessary after riding.

Below is a pic of the finished install.

All in all, a simple straight forward install, with well built components.

Great install tutorial Dave, thanks for sharing the detailed write up and the pictures, this will be very helpful to others contemplating doing the same install using the frame mount.

Good job on the horn mount mod as well! The Harley dealers I have talked to after you and I discussed this tell me that removing the horn mount will not void your warranty. There are dozens of Harley dealers selling and installing the Love Jugs fans who remove the horn mount and they tell me that the only way a warranty claim could be denied is if removing the horn mount could be directly attributed to a failure for which a warranty claim is submitted. The same holds true for installing lift brackets, aftermarket pipes, tuners, extended bars and cables, etc. Some dealers just want to scare you into not buying anything that they do not sell.

There is nothing that removing the horn mount would do to cause a failure as it is merely a bracket that bolts between the two cylinders and is there solely as a place to mount the horn. In fact the Harley dealer just down the street from me keeps a set of Mighty Mites at their parts counter and sends their customer's to me. They love them and recommend them.

Having said all that, peace of mind might make it worth doing for some and it looks like a quick and easy mod. Thanks again for the how too! I've also been using 2 of the 4 zip ties provided in the kit on the ends of the stainless straps as well. Please let me know how you like the fans after you'e gotten to run them some.

Good job on the mounting of your love jugs. This should help others with this easy install. Most anyone that can turn a wrench can take on this project that does a world of good for your ride.

No problems what so ever. The tank has been off several times and has never been an issue.

Randy, good to know on the warranty issue.

I should be able to give you an update after the 4th, at least if the weather holds out.

    Default Love Judgs Mighty-Mite Installed

Wow, what great people to deal with Randy (PaPa Zook) and Kevin (DK Customs).

Based on Kevin's temperature test report I ordered Mighty-Mite Love Jugs and Frame mount kit from Randy too. I finally got everything installed.

After removing the gas tank (2011 Trike) my problem was interference with the electrical wiring seemingly is right where the Frame mount clamps were to be installed. At first I thought the kit wasn't for my bike. Called Randy, after a conversation he give me instructions on how to work around all the wiring and did what "Recall" did----using zip ties, etc.

    Great customer service.

What I noticed since the install---- A year ago I had my motor built from 103 to 120 which puts out a lot more heat. With the Mighty-Mites installed a big difference in temperature (only by feel, no digital reading). That being said before the motor would sometimes under load I would hear a spark knock---- With the fans--- no more spark knock.

    Thanks to all. DJ 55il

I know you're asking Recall for his thoughts and comments, and I'm looking forward to his response, but thought I'd add my 2 cents in here.

Below are two videos, one of the install and another of temp testing of the Mighty Mite Fans.

After 6 months of running these, I am still very pleased with how they are working.

LOL I'm watching the second one right now, after watching the first one. Beat ya to it

Appreciate any and all comments! And someone in the first video already answered one of my questions, whether to go with the frame mount or not. I'm only running stage one, so it's nice to know the frame mount really isn't necessary.

    Me too, my $0.02 worth.

It's only been 6 months for me ... but about 6k miles ... love the cooler engine and oil temps and that's got to be good for the engine. At first I didn't care for the whirring noise (must be a frequency I can actually hear), but, I guess I'm used to it cause I don't seem to notice it anymore.

Still freaks me out when I get off the highway and the ET goes down at the first light .. LOL.

Cool. A frame mount can save the idolater from wearing out on an engine that vibrates a lot...but if it does wear out, easy enough to replace.

Yeah, they are pretty effective. I would not own a Twin Cam or M8 without one.

btw, I can hear mine with my modular helmet on when at an idle with the stock slip-ons...but, like you said, after a bit you don't even notice it anymore.

Installed mine on 4 April this year. Did have a failure of the fan for the front cylinder the end of July with a bit over 4700 miles of use. A replacement was shipped quickly and it was an easy swapout. Wouldn't want to be without the Mighty Mites for my Twin Cam. I rarely hear them, unless I turn off music and engine.

I have a 2019 Tri Glide. Check out what I found out about the accessory plug. You can see it at the 3:05 mark in the video below...watch all the way to the 4:50 mark for the 2 possible solutions.

Pull the right hand side cover and you will find the access plug attached to and behind the front upright frame tube. HD did a good job of hiding it,but worth the effort to locate it to hook up fans correctly. It is connector 325 in the wiring schematic.
