How's the speedometer calibration + or -?

When I owned my last two Goldwings, I found that the speedometer calibration was off with the speedometer reading about 5mph faster than I was riding. Question to the Stallion owners, how accurate is the Stallion's speedometer?<br />

only had mine about 6 weeks. I don't know how accurate it is. hope to go by one of those radar stationary machines so i can check my speed.

I find the speedo is 4 miles faster than the GPS. Only use the GPS anyway.

If it's of interest most motorcycle speedo's worldwide are set to read high / fast by by 7/10 % & i'm told the same applies to most auto's. Baz

</div>My wifes is onlt 1 mph off on the low side. This is with both GPS and radar checking.

Most GoldWings ARE off 5-7 MPH...standard equipment from Honda lol

My 2009 Stallion is about 2 mph over GPS speed.

You guys would laugh at me for me having my speedometer, not a gps or nothing like it and is only off by 1/10th of a mile,<br />
and very accurate too, i was looking for something un usual as for a speedomer, and i staterd looking for a weathe vane and found the same thing that the weatherman[person] use to measure the wind speed and i found one likkethey use that is only 4 inches tall and has a small battery in it, and on yop of it it has a removable 3 small cups on the top of it and as you ride the road it turns to measre the wind speed, and i have it velcrowed to my handlbars to be removed for theft, and it works great and people get a real kick out of it when they ask what the heck that is, lolllll and i tell them, and it works great and cost under $120.00 and goes to 140 mph not bad for a redneck with an old school trike,grinn<br />

My '09 Stallion is over GPS read out by about 2 mph. I picked my trike up about 30 days ago and while driving it from Oklahoma to Colorado it (speedometer) acted up by gradually increasing to 105 mph, while I was going 70. It stuck there even when I shut the engine off. I stopped to eat and when I restarted, all was fine and worked ever since ... <b>until</b> about a week ago when is went the other way. I was going 60 and it went down to 40 and stayed there. Now it's working fine again. Three strikes and I will have it replaced under warranty.

My speedo used to be right on. Now that I'm triked and because the rear tires are larger diameter than stock, when my speedo reads 60 I am at 65 GPS. Not going to bother spending $110 for a calibrator, as I usually have GPS on board, and when I don't I know the offset. I like the lower gear ratio - just had to adjust my shift points up a bit.

most of the time the speedometer is off by about 1 or 2 miles compared to the GPS.
but I have had it off by more than 15 miles sometimes.
TBMS replaced the pickup sensor for the speedometer and last time I checked it was 5 miles fast all the time, it was only replaced a few hundred miles ago and I am up to 37,000+ miles total.

I have an 09 and last month my speedometer dropped from 65 to 20 while I was running on the freeway at 65 via the GPS. A ways down the road the Traffic slowed way down where I was actually doing about 20 and the speedometer started working correctly again. It only happened that one time. Normally my speedometer is almost dead on with my GPS. Is this something that gets dirty that we can clean. It acts like it is a magnetic pickup that may not be properly aligned. If it works most of the time, is it really a bad part or just something that need tightened or an adjustment?

My speedometer stuck on 30 when I was doing 65 and it also started working correctly when I slowed back down in traffic. I agree with WildBill and wonder if it is getting dirty.

Thoroughbred Motorsports told me to take my Stallion in to the Ford dealer and have them to recalibrate the speedometer. I have 559 miles on my Stallion. Mine is off 18 miles an hour. Been pulled over twice.

They have a computer program that re-calibrates them at the dealer.
