Front Wheel Viberation with Michelin Tire

I put a Michelin Pilot Activ mounted reverse rotation on my Wing and took it out for the first time Saturday afternoon. I noticed a vibration that I could feel through the handlebars especially at speeds under 25 - 30 mph. It smoothed out at higher speeds and the trike handled great. There was never any vibration with the E3 on front even being worn out.
Would the reverse rotation be the cause of the low speed vibration? I have never seen a vibration issue mentioned in any post on this board regarding this tire and it seems that there are many of you using the MPA mounted reversed rotation. Is this something that will go away with some wear and more miles being put on the tire?

I developed a low speed wobble after I installed Pilot Activ. Never had any wobble before. I will try to reverse the tire tomorrow and see if it helps.

I mounted one on my trike also a roadsmith.I run 41lbs inthe front,and I've put on over 1,000 miles no vibrations. Maybe the balancing is off, good luck Don

I took the wheel weights off and used 2 oz of Dynabeads and I am running 41# air pressure in tire.

Others may chime in but this may be your problem, the dyna beads work by centrifical force, they take rotational speed to smooth out thus a wobble at low speeds.

Take a look at their own videos, you can see at slow speeds the tire wobbles.

Take your tire to have it properly balanced with lead weights. Just my suggestion.

Just an FYI my trike has inherent (from Honda) front wheel shakes, and an MPA mounted backwards got rid of the shakes. Unless you got a tire slightly out of round (it happens) I'd pursue a good balance, assuming of course your tire pressure is spot on.

If you really like the Dynabeads, I would suggest a static balance plus the beads. Like all ready mentioned. The beads need to be rotated to start balancing

i also noticed the same thing when i installed the mpa.
not so much a vib but a buzzing sound at 25 mph.
removed the weights and installed 2oz of dynabeads
noticed a vast improvement but still a slight sound
have heard this is common.

I have no vibration at all. Mine is mounted straight-up, but i see no reason for vibration regardless of Mounting Direction.....sounds like "bad balancing", or as stated, just a "non-perfect" Tire from the Factory..."it happens" occasionally. I've had maybe a half dozen over the years that wouldn't balance....

Used RIDE-ON in all my 2 wheelers, but when I went to AK. this summer I was informed that with ride-on in the tire it is difficult to impossibe to hold a Plug as it lubs the hole, washed out my RIDE-ON out of my stock tires and you can see it stays slippery, JUST AN FYI,,just carry my plugs and the gun for them,,,,

If I understand, you have not actually experienced this, just told it won't hold a plug. Is that correct?
I have not had a puncture using Ride-on yet. So, would like to hear if anyone has actually had one and what the result is.

After getting about 400 miles of rubber worn off my new tire, I am pleased to let you all know that I no longer have any vibration at any speed coming from the front tire. Trike rides and handles great:yes:

I have the MPA mount reversed with 20,000+ miles on it.
It's balanced with weights and no vibs.
IMO,take out the beads and use weights.

Recently switched to MPA running reversed specifically since my 03 GL / CSC had the slow speed shakes.And now its all gone! Trike even turns a wee bit easier. As I was advised on this forum, ensure your head bolts are tight & the tire is propery fitted. I run 40-41# front & abt 22# rear. Even Wifey says the rig is running smoother. And that's good 'nuf for me! G'Luck
