Another newbie wannabe - South African -

Trike talk and the members have been a great find for me. Have spent some time lurking and I really enjoy the character and atmosphere. I have been off bikes for about ten years, and the bug is starting to bite again. At 68 my knees and reaction times may be a bit of a problem. Trikes are starting to look more and more interesting and appealing to me, and I am hoping to find time to build one to use as a daily commutor. VW based with water cooled motor. Hope I will be able to call upon the pool of knowledge and expertise you all have to offer. Many thanks for the privilage of being able to join in.

Nana, you seem to be familiar with South Africa. Have you ever visited? I live in the jo'burg area, about 20 miles from centre of Jo,burg. Thank you for the welcome. I do believe that terminology could be a chalenge for me. As in spanner/wrench ( I think )

Hi again. Yes, I was born in Port Shepstone, just near Durban while my parents were there on holidays from our home in Botswana. I attended school just outside of CapeTown for one year. Other than that just visiting SA, but my parents (Canadian) lived in Africa for 20 years, mostly in Botswana and Rwanda, so I was there througout my childhood.

"Spanner" sounded so nostalgic to me! That is what I called a wrench until I was back in North America to start college!!! Then there's the boot, the bonnet, the cubby-hole, lorries, petrol ...... LOL! Hadn't thought about those terms in years!

Nana I bet most of us old folks knew what a Spanner was. I even had a "MG and a Austin Healy" in the growing up days.
