This week I received the Baker Compensator that I ordered last week from J&P cycles, they originally said it would be 3 - 4 weeks for delivery but it only took a week. It was supposed to be delivered on Monday 7/24 so I got up early and started removing the primary fluid and cover. So I'm looking at the compensator and I removed the chain tensioner and the center bolt on the compensator and removed it- piece of cake! Didn't have to remove the clutch basket ! The chain came off and folded up and out of the way.
When the new one came later in the day I unboxed it and read the instructions, it appeared fairly easy and it really was! My trike is a 2010 Street Glide Trike which is a little brother to the Tri Glide and it had the upgraded SE Compensator on it which is still a piece of junk. But having said that it saved me many steps in changing the part. I was able to get the chain over the new part and with a little finagling got the new part to slip on.
The bottom line is it is a lot quieter, easier to shift and find neutral and no more clunking noise when the engine is shut off.I
I would highly recommend this upgrade! Thanks to Baker and J & P Cycles
