Selling a Trike/Bike w/Voyager kit unclear title

I am putting my 97 Royal Star with Voyager trike kit up for sale. I still owe on it with finance company. I am going for a full trike and want to sell the Royal star and buy the trike. What is involved in selling a bike/trike without title? Is it so complicated that it is not worth it to a potential buyer?

Your best bet is to ask the finance company the best way.

But it typically goes something along the lines where the buyer confirms with the finance company the payoff figure. Assuming he is paying at least that much, he sends the entire amount to the finance company. They send him the title, and you any change there may be. If the bank is in town, you can both meet there and be done with it on the spot.

If you owe more then it sells for it gets sticky. Exactly what has to happen to keep the buyer safe, I'm not sure. I guess if he sends his money in, and you don't, the finance company would refund him.

As far as the buyer taking the bike home..........

I don't know that he will want to wait for the funds to clear. You could run off. And I don't know that I would want to release the bike before the funds clear either.

Like I said, your best bet is to talk to the finance company ahead of time.
