Have a buddy with one on his Frankenstein - says it's just there and works. Simple and functional.
Hey guys!!I got me one 'dem DNA type swingarms on my 3 wheel scoot,um runnin a 530 O-ring chain on 'er and um thinking seriously about goin with a spring loaded gear type chain adjuster on the swingarm.
Hell...it looks simple enough for this old man ta fabricate...just gotta get the girl up off'n the ground bout 3-4 foot to work it.
Anybody here do this sort of thing?
This aint your average trike here Guys, take a look at 'er
the chain is flappin in the breeze since I changed up the tranny gear from 24 to 22 teeth...................and yes,I did pull the rear back some...but not enuff I guess.

BIBS...you can Google "motorcycle chain tensioner" and find some sites that have them. Maybe you can PM trikes4ever and get the information on where his buddy got his tensioner from, but they are out there and are quite common on motocross (dirt) bikes. You just need one for a bigger gauge chain.
Found one!!Monstercraftsman
I can make that easily enough....all I need is the spring.
BINGO dude! That is the very site I went to when I searched it out. They have a video on You Tube that demonstrates the operation. Get your cutting torch and welder out and get busy.
You could rig the gear on an arm and then put an "opposing" spring to "pull" the gear up as opposed to finding that spring they use. You have a good imagination and the tools...I know you can work it out.
Why buy one when you can make one cheaper and better...

Roger my friend...flattery will get you everywhere!!!
I'm going to fabricate a ramp system so I can roll 'er up....make it easier to work on....hell I might just take pictures and post 'em along with dimensions.
it'll be wooden...2x4's...1/2" treated ply and use 2x12's to roll 'er up....probobly 2 pc. ramps, total of 12 foot long.
I can either ride 'er up or pull 'er up with a boat winch.
Now about that chain adjuster..........
Got me my chain adjuster squared away.....I had 2 holes on either side of my softtail frame and whilst getting things ready for the powder coater...I said to myself...self why dont ya weld a 1/2" nut on them holes on the frame
I had a notion that one day I may need ta bolt somethin to the frame.....well um glad I did cause the Arm of the chain tensioner is where it mounted on that 1/2" nut that was there
The spring is sumthin I had lay'n around and I bent one end to attach to one of the openings in the rear.
Clever aint I!!!.........hahahahaha!!!! dont answer that.
