I had to laugh yesterday

I wont name names, But I was reading ALL the doom and gloom @ another Forum

Seems these guys like to hammer the M8

I kind of got the idea they were real scared, Kind of like the Evo introduction

My God, Please do not buy this bike

I think the M8 is a step in the right direction, but it's new and is bound to have issues to be worked out. Some folks thrive on negativity and creating controversy and it tends to grow if not checked. The forum owner & staff sets the mood and direction of any forum and many just don't care. Life is way too short for B.S.

I'm not a Harley rider but have already run across two people who had their new M8's burn up the front cylinder and seize up doing significant engine damage. One fellow, who came up to our group during a trip in May, told us about his new bike. He rode it to Washington state and got back to within 10 miles of home when the engine started sounding like it was coming apart. He headed straight for the Harley dealer and barely made before the engine died. Front cylinder was destroyed along with a few other parts. Yet people say, "there's no problem". Just saying....

A good for-instance ,; 10 + people will say their reverse 86'ed, And then inevitably someone will chime in and say, Mine never gave me problems, Why[Im being sarcastic here] i can even back up mountains in reverse with my Tri-Glide..

Things do break indeed for many reasons

My StreetBob was one of them

H D sent a big shot down when mine Blew Up

They had NEVER seen a TC crack an oil pump and a cam support plate in half and still run

What I am grateful for is I have 13,000 miles on my M8 with NO problems, I ride it pretty NORMAL ( what ever that means)

I also am in warranty 4 7 years so I do not worry Just Sayin

I would like to hear All horror stories here from all y'all with M8 Harley's

Oil lamp on my 2017 Trike kept coming on after a 50 or so mile ride. Didn't throw any codes. Checked oil level...OK. Made appointment with dealer. They replaced the oil pump and cam. Cam was one of a batch of poorly machined units, according to a bulletin from the mother ship. Oil lamp has not come on since.....so far. No metal shavings in oil but got an oil and filter change. Tech had to ride the Trike on several long rides of 50 or so miles to replicate the oil lamp occurrence, and again to verify the problem was fixed, so they filled up my gas tank. First time I've ever had a dealer do warranty work and not tell me 'they all do it" or "can't replicate problem".

I ride a lot of different bikes and trikes as part of my job. I have only put about 3000 miles on two different M8 engines on bikes I own, but I am a believer. The heat factor is significantly reduced (leg sensing, not hard data) and my butt dyno tells me the the stock setup pulls as strong at 2500 - 4000 rpm than the twin cam 110 upgrade. The dealership where I work has seen very few warranty claim horror stories.

As previously stated, many long time, hard core Harley guys hate change. I have ridden several of the MY2018 softails with the upgraded frame, and I am again favorably impressed. Long time Dyna riders won't agree.

I have 7100 miles on my M8 and they only issue i'm having is a very erratic idle,now I know its set at around 850 but this is different.when i come to a stop it will drop down to 500 then up to 1100 a couple of times before settling in around 850.But twice within the last 3 weeks it has shut off and had to restart,so I called the dealer and told them that its doing again( they worked on it once) but with the added surprise of stalling. So looks like its back to the dealer.

I aint 4 sure on this, BUT a friend of a friend told me the MOCO was having issues with the idle so far as to have an internal memo on this. The rub is some times they got it right, some times NOT so much. I have the PV set for my LOW idle warning @ 925 and my High warning @ 1050, it almost always after 2nd gear settles in @ 925

Going to gut the head pipe,free flow air cleaner with a PV this winter.
