Greetings,

Hope I don't offend anyone when I say, I like trikes. Something to be said about not falling over at stoplights.

Currently doing a slow build on a SBC engined hardtail trike. Will get some pics up as I work my way about the site.

Thanks for letting me in.:Flag:

Re: new from laughlin

Just joined. Been riding HDs for years, currently a '08 ultra. Got the bug for a trike recently and darn near pulled the trigger on a 2011 Merlot colored triglide.
Was certainly aware of the heat issues to some extent, my ultra hits the 300 degree mark easily in the summer, but reading here and on other boards about the heat from the cats has put up a stop sign. I'm just not ready to spend
35k hard earned bucks knowing i need to spend an additional 3 or 4 k to get rid of or defeat the cat. Anyway i appreciate this board , an open source of information. Maybe i will go trike yet, also been eyeing a canam spyder rts. BTW
the dealer at first told me "not aware of heat issues" " Said " cat is in the muffler, easy to replace".

Re: new from laughlin

Hi Bill, and welcome to TrikeTalk! Perhaps you should consider adding a kit to your current bike. If you are happy with the bike and have it accessorized and adjusted to fit you, that is often the best way to go both for price and satisfaction!

Check the various options..... all the well known kits (Champion, MotorTrike, Hannigan, Roadsmith, Lehman, and others) are excellent quality, and you really can't go wrong with any of them! Things to consider are a source/installer that you trust and that is hopefully near you in location, your budget, whether fixed or independent rear suspension makes a difference to you, and the eye appeal of the kit.

Ask questions here as our membership represents about all of the options. You'll get our personal perspectives and recommendations. Then it is up to you to decide which one best suits your own needs and likes.

Bill, welcome aboard. I agree with Nana check out converting. You get the best of both. A bike you know and trust and 3 wheels.

The cats used to be in the mufflers until 2010. Convert and look under the Harley section of this forum. Under the heat thread is some great suggestions on cooling them down. My 07 never gets above 230 on the hottest S. Florida days unless I am stuck in traffic. Good luck

If you're looking for a kit to convert your present bike, check out California SideCar. Although we have a GW1800 CSC, we were at the CSC factory last June to pick up an Escalade trailer which they also make, and saw the quality work they do on Harley conversions. Absolutely beautiful! Makes me wish (almost) that we'd seen them first. Anyway, take a look at their work - the people are very accomodating and couldn't be nicer.

Well been thinking about getting a trike for a few months. Appreciate all the comments here in response to my initial post. Today i went back to Mother road HD and bought the Merlot colored HD triglide. Take delivery tomorrow.
Will comment further after i get some miles on it.

WooHoo! Happy Birthday to the new addition to your family, and congrats to you, Bill! Take your time getting used to the different feel of steering rather than leaning, but you are going to have a ball :)

Bikerbill I think you will be very happy with your decision.Maggie Valley would be a great breakin ride in June.RIDE SAFE
