Default Passenger grab handle digs into wife's leg

We have a 2017 Tri Glide with HD passenger armrests. The stock grab handle on the right side digs into her leg and makes long rides very uncomfortable.

The right side passenger floorboard is in it's top position so I can't gain anything there. Strangely enough it is an inch lower than the left side which is also in it's highest setting.

I'm reluctant to try to bend them either on or off the bike. Don't really want to ruin them.

Anyone else have this issue and found a fix? (aside from removing them)

HD sells the brackets to raise the floor boards up, my wife is 5ft6in and her legs would have marks on them after we rode a little while. I replaced the brackets and all is good. I do have a 2014 but I don't know if there is a difference.

I put on some Kuryakyn adjustable passenger pegs. My wife loves them. Not sure if they fit the 17s though.

A good riding buddy, now dead, had that problem. He solved it by replacing his "buxom" bride with a new skinny girl friend. YMMV

Why not remove them, instead of spending $$ on diff pegs.?? If I remember right, just 2 bolts under seat & they are off. Don't think I have ever used then for anything.

I installed the Kuryakyn adjustable passenger pegs that I got from DK Custom on my 2017.

They helped a lot. DK Custom is a great company to work with.

I also installed Passenger Grab Handles PN 1609 from Kuryakyn, these are have a flatter handle than the stock plus rubber for a better grip.

My wife liked these better when we rode the dragon. Only problem we've had so far is the rubber turned her hands black if she doesn't wear gloves and it will also come off on the back of her pants if they are not a darker color. Kuryakyn said that sweat would attack the rubber and to clean them occasionally with a Windex type cleaner. We still have to try that out Other than that they are great.

    Default Hope I solved it.

Thanks for the replies. I hope I have it solved with the 724-238 raised floorboard mounts from J&P Cycles I ordered yesterday. They raise the floorboards 2 1/2 inches so if I use the lower holes, it should be just right.

She has the HD armrests but uses the hand grips on twisty roads so I didn't want to just remove them.

    Thanks again..

Removed mine, one problem solved. However now wife says she doesn't feel as secure with nothing to hold on to. Probably add arm rests later and hope to solve that problem.

The stock ones are raised on the sides, I found a set that's flat and this doesn't bother the wife at all....not sure of brand, I think HD but could be wrong. I'm out of town and can't take a picture.

I thought about that too but my wife has to reach for the floorboards a bit, especially the right one that's an inch lower than the left with both of them in the top mounting holes.

By the way, the HD floorboard risers will not work (according to them) on the trike.

The Kuryakyn grips with the rubber looked like an option but the HD armrests already hit the HD rails and I was afraid they wouldn't come in far enough for my wife.

    She's a little thing. 5' 3" & 115 lbs. I think the risers from J&B will work fine.

They also sell an adapter block which gives you several mounting positions for height & also lets you angle the floorboards for comfort. I thought about them & decided against them as they set the floorboards out a bit and I didn't want my bride to have to reach out further for them.

I'll report on the results after installation.

Well, I bought my trike out in the Black Hills during Sturgis. Those passenger hand rails were the first thing that came off when we got home. My wife is also long legged. So I adjusted the passenger floor boards down to the last hole. Wife very happy. Me good. Looks like I get to live another day.

Replaced the RH bracket only last night. Used the lowest set of holes and there is no longer any contact with her leg on the grab handle. Easy to change after you find that ball bearing that shot out when you pull the pins out of the floorboard. Problem solved..

I'm curious if anyone has turned them around - Never looked at it closely. but as the hand rails seem to angle uphill {into the back of the leg}. If you could just turn them 180 they would then slop down in the front.....anyone....Ferris......

If it were me, I'd take them off and tell her to hang on to me ... I kind of miss the co rider thing ... ... I really enjoyed her groping me ... used to call her my little pervert. Maybe that's why she left me .

2014 - My wife holds on to them when riding. She is 5' 4" and my grab rails have the H-D grip covers on them. No problems at all. I need them to move the trike around.
