First Spyder Ride

Yeah, the new F3 even has me interested. But I'm having trouble giving up my Indian. If wishes made it happen, I'd already have a trike kit on it. But man it would be expensive and Randy is a bunch farther than I want to go even with his offer to meet half way. My back just won't let me go very far anymore. But I sure wish it was done.

As to the wife, I guess she's happy. Been installing all her farkles herself so busy and happy I think. Has me do certain things she doesn't want to do but I know she isn't done yet. Not sure exactly what's next for her. She certsinly can't ride both bikes. One is going to have to go but I think she wants me to start riding it and is trying to make it like my Indian as close as possible. What a gal !!! But I really would rather trike mine.

Trying to remember but Imotorsports had a few Indian trikes for sale that were converted, they did look sharp but not wanting to drop that kind of cash on a bike again.

Maybe the lottery ever comes knocking at my door I would go buy one. And have it converted or buy one already converted.

The 2020 Spyder RT is really sharp and finally has the rear trunk that the F3 has.

Well whatever you and the wife decide I am sure you will be both happy

At the very least they give you a price that you can take to your local dealer to see if they will match. I've heard they are a good dealer if you don't mind having your new ride shipped to you.

There was a guy over on the SpyderLovers forum that had minor problems but Imotorsports made it right. so in the end the the buyer was happy.

My dad keeps buying Spyders from them , think he up to 3 or 4 now buying from them now.

Dont think I have ever found a perfect dealer yet, always seems one or two items that always makes the deal a bit sour

Some dealers I will never walk in there showroom ever again.

Seems on the SL site some complain before they contact the dealer.

Some will never be happy.

I love my Spyder. It is old now a 2012,but at 53,000+ it just keeps on keeping on. I put over 100,000 miles on several Ventures,Royal Stars and expect to be able to do that on this Spyder, if I don't sucume to 2020 fever. Ride more worry less. Most of the stuff we worry about will never happen and if it does, there will be a way to solve it.

Those 012's are great. We had one or should say the wife rode one to somewhere around the 50k mark before trading up. She should have kept the 012. But she also got a F3 and likes it. I'm not even sure what the other one is. I'm thinking it's a 016 RT. Whatever it is it's been a problem. Dealer caused problem that almost or maybe did, cause them to lose their Platinum rating. Reason I'm not sure is I heard they lost it but dealer locator says they have it.

Anyway, we certainly don't go there anymore. All the Spyders are good now with the possible exception of the 013's. But even they finally got the fixes they needed. So I really don't think you can go wrong trading up at some point. You just don't have a reason with the 012.

Rode trikes to Coyote Powersports in Boerne last week to see/talk 2020 Spyders. They don’t have any 2020’s yet - expect them any day. The tech we talked with was quite knowledgeable and took his time explaining the differences between the 2020’s and the past models.

A couple of things I was interested in: a new trunk for the RT (the F3 has had this trunk) that supposedly will fit 2 full face helmets. This is a vast improvement over the wormhole of a trunk in the past IMHO which was always a big turn-off for me. The center of gravity is lower. Laser alignment is done at the factory - no more waiting for the laser alignment team touring the country to come to your part of the world. Seats are heated.

I forgot to ask about the swaybar addition that everybody adds to them...whether it comes with this or not...in the past it seems a must-have is a Baja Ron swaybar addition.

Then again... spending the money.... OOF! Have decided to have my trike gone over really well and drive it another year or two...by then the 2020’s will be down in price - on the showroom floor, or used, and will review it all again. BUT...when the 2020’s come to this dealer I will be over to look at them anyway...just out of curiosity.

My wife is still undecided if a new sway is needed or not on her F3. There's such an improvement from her RT Limited that we might just get better shocks. She had some added to her RT and claims night and day difference and that's after already ridden many miles with a Baja Ron swaybar installed. The F3 is much better to start with so not sure if it will be worth it.
