After reading several of these treads I took special notice when riding today with my mirrors and really did not have the issues of the blind spot behind me. I have my mirrors adjusted so just the edge of my upper arm and shoulder are viewable on the in side of the mirror and can still see plenty of road behind me. To view that so-called blind spot just involves leaning ahead about 6 inches pulling my arm and shoulder in a smidge and I have that view in my mirror of the blind spot. As one has mentioned here use your mirrors but trust your eyes I always do a quick physical look when needed.
