Drool coming down the inside of the speedometer glass.

I noticed this a few weeks ago. I almost scrubbed a hole thru the glass before I figured out it was on the inside.

Apparently HD tried an anti fog spray on the inside of the gauges for obvious reasons but in high humidity conditions and moisture gets inside the (primarily speedo) gauge, it runs down until it sometimes makes it hard to read the numbers.

My dealer gave me a copy of the bulletin where HD acknowledges the problem and is working on but does not have a solution yet. It goes on to say they will replace the gauge but there is a high probability of a repeat problem.

I'm told that they will replace the gauge ONCE under warranty and I have been advised to wait until close to the end of the warranty period to see if they come up with something.

I don't have a question, Just an FYI

Is this an issue on the 2017's and maybe newer? And how long does it take to go away? That would be aggravating as hell...And never heard of a warranty that if they "fix it" and it doesn't work it's no longer a warranty issue.....jc

My 2014 had two replaced and the third one is doing the same thing too.....:gah:

Had that happen with the volt meter gauge lens on my 11 T/G quite often, when i would pull out of my garage in the winter is would fog up but after a while it would evaporate/dry up but it never stained, And to tell the truth i don't know why it didn't stain the inside was so fogged up...

Yes it is. My 2017 has it. I am going to wait to see if they come up with a permanent fix.

Sorry, forgot to say it's a 2017..

The coating was supposed to prevent the fogging and it's that material that is running down the glass. It won't go away and may get worse than it is when you first notice it.

Wounder why it's never on the tach lens?

Old problem

Harley has had a fogging problem with gauges for years. My '04 EG had a couple of gauges replaced, my son's '14 Street Glide had the gauges replaced last year under extended warranty. (Dealer discretion). Still having the problem with the replaced gauges.

This is not "fogging" as with the problem years ago. The fogging would dry out as the bike was being ridden. This does not go away, as previous poster said "it is something HD used in the gauge". My 16 is in the shop right now having it replaced. I opted for a different style gauge set & having all 4 replaced. I just noticed mine after 17,000 miles. Rode 3400 on the last trip & it did not get any worse or better. My dealer has done several of these on diff year bikes. Not just a Trike problem.

Here we go again

Hi guys. I realize this is kind of an old thread but just noticed this on my 2016 Tri. I had it replaced once under warranty but now the warranty is up and the problem has reappeared. Not sure what to do now. The hubster does not believe in extended warranties of any kind (believe me I’ve tried ).

If I get the gauge replaced, it most likely will happen again.

I’m not a fan of the digital aftermarket gauges.

Hey PosseRider, did the CVO gauges not work period, or was the gauge set that your dealer had faulty?

Anyone have another solution?

And your dealership has refused to fix the "ongoing" problem? If they have I'd contact the Mothership. Seems to me that fixed should not mean put off until later.

As stated above, The "E" & "R" would not light up when Emergency brake or Reverse were in use. If the Hubster has to replace a radio on that trike, he will wish he got the ESP. If I remember that cost is around $2000. I had one replaced on my 15 Ultra low under warranty. I got a deal on the ESP as part of the purchase of the 16 Tri. Now covered for 7 yrs with wheel & tire.

The CVO guages were not faulty.

Thanks for the reply Bill :clapping: I was wondering if the reason those lights would not work on the CVO gauge was a fault in that particular one, or do the CVO gauges just not work on a Triglide?

On the ESP you are preaching to the choir :( I’m still working on him though.

oops. Just read the last line of your post. Thanks for the info.
