I'm gonna take a guess and say it's an access panel for something...

Maybe it's the access to the air filter...ha...ha

That angled forward panel looks like it would give a long legged person more knee room!

I did check in the Owner's Manual and that is a pocket. For the non-air bag ones, there is also one on top/center of the shelter set. There is not one on the left side, and none in the rear.
