    Default '17 Tri Glide parking brake

    Parking brake has always been about 7 clicks down, when applied. Should be about 4/5 clicks. I cannot move the adjuster ( long nut) at the front end of the cable, the one with the jam nut. As far as I can tell, that is the only way to adjust the parking brake. Any advise will help, thanks.

    Why can you not move the adjuster ? Back off the lock nut, turn the adjuster ............. Simple no ? It is explained in the owner's manual.

    Yeah well, some people (like me) don't know this info. Wouldn't even have thought to look in the manual for it.

    If everyone read the manual , And then could understand it, [Sometimes instructions in manuals can be at times ambiguous]......There would be no need for forums like this...And i mean that in a good way...

    I agree completely,but the long adjuster nut will not turn. It is like it is glued in place. I guess I will have to go see the dealer to replace the cable. Thanks.

    You so realize there is a jam nut that must be backed away from the long adjuster so it can turn ?

    Maybe not but he mentioned a jam nut in the first post.
    2017 Tri Glide Ultra All mods so far have been for comfort.

    Of course I know about the jam nut. It is the long (adjusting) nut that would not move, like it was glued to the threads. I did heat it up with a charcoal lighter,and got it loose, and adjusted. Why would Harley put loctite on something that you would need to adjust now and then, beats me.

    If you see threads only on one side of the nut, then it’s possible its bottomed out , otherwise try unscrewing it instead of tightning . Another possible way would be to heat the nut with a burnsamatic plumbers torch and spray with penitrating oil . Just some ideas. 📞

    I don't think Harley did that. Neither of my trikes have had thread lock applied to the adjuster. That would make no sense. Makes me wonder if the dealer has someone in make ready with their head up their a**.

    Maybe they had the clean up guy doing the make ready stuff. Maybe he can't read, and thought loctite is the same as grease.....who the hell knows....

    Must have been the same clean up guy who installed the LED tail lights on my Freewheeler. The right one had the clear area to shine light on my license plate, the left one didn't.

    Is this in fact loc tite or rust on the threads?

    Given the way thecable is routed, if the boot is not secure over the adjuster water will get in

    I have packed mine full of dilectric greae to keep the water at bay

    I adsjust mine when the rear brake pedal gets a bit low

    It puts the pads in closer contact to the rear rotors

    3 clicks on thye pedal does it for me

    Rust or gunk in the treads....The instruction's Tell you to put grease on the treads..

    And if it drys out it will look like loc-tite...
