This is one of the reasons I've asked the dealer to quit using their frigging pressure washer on the bikes. Scares the crap out of me.

Yep, That will turn grease into chalk after it drys ....

My dealer insist on washing every bike/trike that they worked on..I just tell them don't bother...

Good point, I gave up on grease on those parts

The dilectric lube can take the water intrusion better IMO

If a dealer was using a pressure washer on my bike I would TELL them nicely to STOP

If their back shop guys cant wash them right dont do it at all

I ride alot in the rain here in FLA and my adjuster is fine, just saying maybe put it on the to do list during oil changes for peace of mind

I realize this is the Tri Glide forum, but I have the same parking brake on my 2015 Freewheeler. A bizarre thing happened but I am not sure what caused it. Is it possible that the parking brake could have been stuck but the pedal came up and the light went off?

I rode through some water near home, put my trike in the garage, set the parking brake and left it there a few days while it continued to rain during the hurricane. When I tried to move it, I could not. I did turn my switch to Acc. to be sure the parking brake light was off and I was in neutral, which all checked out. I tried depressing and releasing the hand and foot brake too. I could not move forward or backward, I even sat on the seat and tried rocking it. Something was definably stuck so I started it, put it in gear and got it moved.

It was not a normal thing, but I am sure if I asked HD it would have been my fault or my imagination. It was like the trike was chocked.

Given the way thecable is routed, if the boot is not secure over the adjuster water will get in

I have packed mine full of dilectric greae to keep the water at bay

I adsjust mine when the rear brake pedal gets a bit low

It puts the pads in closer contact to the rear rotors

3 clicks on thye pedal does it for me
No, it was not rust. The threads had a white thread locker of some sort all over them. There is no rust anywhere on my new Tri Glide. When I did got the long nut free, the white stuff was on about 1.5 or so inches of the threads. I cleaned it all up with PB Blaster, and brake cleaner, then marine grease. Seems good to go.

That kind of sucks you had to go through all that on a new trike.

FWIW, my 17 Freewheeler and my 17 Triglide both did/do the same thing and I think the earlier models I have owned did too. Trouble is the pads stick to the disks if applied wet. I don't know what to do to fix it - I just try to avoid using the parking brake wen wet by leaving it in gear but that is far from an optimal solution. Anybody know a real cure?

There is none Brake pads leave a glaze on the rotors (Fact of brakes and dry clutches) If siting long enough, the humidity will act as a glue. Only remedy is not to apply and leave the parking brake on for any length of time. Also for us that don’t use the parking brake , it’s a good idea to exersize the workings to keep it from sizing up.

    I Think 🤔!!

The sintered metal in thepads rusts to the rotors over night

I have had to rock my Freewheeler to get them to release

I dunno of a cure Maybe ceramicpads would help

Thanks, I will get out of the habit of setting the parking brake when not necessary.

A zip tie on the front of the rubber boot over the parking brake cable will help to keep water out
