    Default Wing to tri-glide

Anybody made the move from a goldwing to a triglide? Currently have an 06 wing with a roadsmith kit. Really thinking hard about the switch. Looking for some thoughts and opinions. The wing is reliable and makes good power but does not speak to my soul if ya know what I mean.

    Thanks

A new Tri Glide will speak to your soul, and your pocketbook...LOL They are really nice, and will scoot.

I would Highly suggest if you have not driven a TRIGLIDE yet to drive one for awhile before jumping to the dark side.

Its a completely different ride etc to get use to.

Love our 2018 Tri Glide - very smooth on the highway - deals with corners very well so long as you approach the tighter ones somewhat slower than you would on two wheels. There's nothing "dark" about our Trike except the colour.

That's the problem. I have test rode twice now. It does speak to my soul. My next step is to rent one for a few days, so I can spend some real time on it. I have read that the stock ride can be improved. It is more stiff than the roadsmith I have now, but the dealers have the rear tires like balloons. It is hard for me to get a real feel for what the ride will be on a short test ride.

    Jim,

I really suggest you rent one. Go see Tony at Treasure Coast HD Stuart tell him Ted out of Key Largo Fl sent you. He will work with you and if you buy will give you a GREAT deal. Rear tires down to 22/23 lbs and 36 in the front. If it needs more a lift kit and coil over rear shocks.

Your soul is telling you to get the Harley. You should do as your soul instructs, unless you have a wife saying NO.

I am a long time Harley rider and a new Tri-Glide owner. Never ridden a Honda conversion trike so really cannot compare but I will say my new 2018 Tri-Glide is one heck of a ride. And with DK Custome TSS 14" shocks and convertible lift kit it rides very well. I am very happy with my ride and think you will be also.

I ride a old Triglide and very happy with it, if feel you need to make a change rent a Triglide first. At my point in life I am done settling for OK.. I refuse to be a settler any longer. I get what I want at my age Cause if I don't I will settle for death and not have lived. Good luck on your choice! ride safe Fred

When I bought my Wing about a year ago...it took me months to decide Triglide or Wing. I finally went with the Wing.

If you want the trike to speak to your soul...go with the Triglide. If you want comfort , Reliability, being able to use reg. gasoline, ( means a lot of $ here in Calif. ) have more storage, better handling...stay with the wing, or better yet, if you are willing to fork out the money, which you are, perhaps wait a little and check out the 2018 Wings....J.M.O.

My wife is 80. Yesterday we rode a 225 mile loop, with a lot of twisties, into NC, Ga. and back home. When we got home she said something about all the beautiful scenery. Then she said something like she felt like she was in an easy chair sitting back there and enjoying it all.

Well best of luck on whatever you decide. But yes spend more time on one and if you think that it will make your soul happy go for it. It not stick with what is best for you.

I agree with you except for the part about slowing down on tight corners. I usually up the speed. A trike can take a corner faster then a 2 wheeler any day. The tighter the turn the faster a trike can take it compared to a 2 wheeler. Think about it. The faster you take a turn the farther out you have to ride which means the opposite lane - not good. Depending on the speed, I can do a 90° turn - 2 wheeler sure can't. Centrifugal force doesn't push me out as far as a 2 wheeler.

Now a professional racer is another story.

Just a thought....try to find the dealer you will most likely purchase the bike from {is you so decide} I had mine out for two days before taking the plunge.....the two day rental was then a no cost sales pitch....not a huge savings.....but can be anywhere from $200 to $500 depending on the dealer.

I have done - what you are thinking. The only thing you will give up (and its a biggy) is the ride. Rent one first. the H_D does speac to the soul -- but is is HARD, (Solid akle) !!

i made the switch the other way. Went from a tri to a wing then to a wing trike. Two totally different animals. Both are awesome. This is an incredibly personal and very expensive decision ... do all the test rides, rentals etc. that you can ... the go with your mind and heart.

I agree about the solid axle, but I don't mind the ride because I don't ride on roads that are that bad.

I steer around pot holes and manhole covers etc.

Not worth the $5K to convert to IRS and I won't ride anything else but a Harley. Eventually I may switch out the shocks, haven't decided if I want to spend that much money yet.

Just replace air shocks with coil over and reduce psi to 23 it will make a world of difference.
