    Default Travel with Dog...

I have been able to hold off the wife on getting another dog. It's been about a year and travel has been much easier to say the least. I've talked her into a "Purse Dog" for easy travel options. So.....Trunk bag...Belly bag....Tank bag....leash and skateboard......thanks. And a pic or two would help.

And lastly.....Dog in the pull behind trailer? Legal? Poor form? I am talking windshield and comfort area for the dog. The Trailer is big enough to make the space without sacrificing storage.

Due to fumes from the trike's exhaust and then sitting in stand-still traffic and all their exhaust fumes, I would suggest you not put him in a pull-behind trailer. They do make pooch carry-bags for the top trunk rack - seems like it might have been Kuryakyn's catalogue I saw this in....but then I'm not an advocate of carrying the dog on the trike due to the noise (remember, his hearing is so much more acute than ours), and the various weather conditions - particularly the hot sun.

only thing missing is his "Doggles", He didn't want to wear them for the picture. He's so vain, even with just one eye ... LOL.

lol....I am thinking it's the way my wife wants to go....I'm leaning towards the tank bag.....less noise...gotta be more comfortable....less wind and both front and back openings. I've seen the tour Pak bags and believe they would be the most popular and convenient. Hadn't thought of the exhaust issues from the bike with the trailer.

I think the dog "sack" is cute....but I ain't doing it and the wife would probably become tired after time. Does the Dog ever sleep in that Fuzzy?

    Thanks all - jc

All the time. Longest trip I've done was 550 miles in a day. He slept a lot, barked a lot and loved it the whole way. I stop like every tank and give him a potty/bark at squirrels break for 10 minutes or so. The bag doesn't get heavy at all, he weighs less than 5# and when on my chest, I have the straps set so he sits in my lap and on the tank ... sorta. It's actually pretty comfortable.

Also, mine is vented and lets lots of air in which I control with the windshield vent. If it rains, I have a flap that I cut from an old nylon jacket that I've sprayed with waterproofing. I wrap that around the "bag" with a bungie. Yes, I'm a tad anal when it comes to my buddy.

We are a two trike family: My trike is a 2004 Road King Classic with a Frankenstein conversion. My wife's trike is a 2007 Sportster with a Frankenstein conversion.

Before putting a dog behind your bike remember one important thing. A dogs hearing is 15-20 times more accute than a humans. So is you exhaust is loud or noisy think what it would be for a dog. Also the exhaust fumes will over come their sense of smell very quick.

    Just saying.

Yeah.....loudness probably wouldn't be a problem.....but the exhaust issue would be......so that option has been nixed....Thanks
