    Default Gonna be sorry??

Am getting extreeemly close to pulling the trigger and buying a trike.

Have looked, researched, tested, kicked tires, talked to folks and believe it is the right thing to do.

But.... keep thinking about how much will i miss the 2 wheeler?

Or is this just like the pre wedding jitters??

Do y'all miss the old bike??

Welcome to TrikeTalk, Rick. Even though you don't yet have a trike, thinking about one is a good enough reason to come here. You will no doubt get some good input from others, but all I can tell you is that I see over and over our members saying: "Why did I struggle so hard? I wish I had done this long ago!!!"

About all you will actually miss is the leaning in the curves. You don't have to do that on a trike, just steer it, but trikes will haul azz too so not much loss of speed other than you doing it yourself just to be cautious. You'll enjoy it,I can assure you.

Simple facts: every time you hit a patch of gravel, go up a muddy road, park in an unpaved parking lot or ride on a windy, windy day, you're going to be grateful for your choice.

We've been places on three wheels in the past 13 months that we'd never have been able to go on two. We've been through national parks where we were warned their roads were under construction, and some two-wheelers turned away. Those parks (Zion & Bryce Canyon) were magnificent, and once-in-a-lifetime memories.

You may miss some of the quirks of your bike, but you'll be very pleased with your choice, if you're anything like our big group of trikers here! We're three wheels down, and proud of it!

Go for it you will be glad you did. I ride 2 wheels on occasion. Just reminds of the good choice I made. And I road 2 for 50 years.

I've got both a trike and a bike, and I'll take the trike every time if I can. I love it....

WELCOME to TRIKE TALK...having ridden 2-wheelers 40+ years, and still own one (ridden mostly just to keep it's legs stretched, and would love to find it a new home...), I prefer my Trike hands down when it's time to hit the road for a Ride, even commuting. I'm an Official TRIKER now...:wtg:

Thanks for all those comments -- I confess I do absolutely hate gravel and surely will not miss that aspect of a bike -- rode about 200 miles yesterday on the bike to check out a trike and just started thinking about whether I would really miss the 2 wheels.
Guess, I'll find out, but kinda hoping I don't sell the bike to quick so i will have a little transition period.
Headed to the hill country in Texas for the weekend on the bike and that will probably be the last long ride on 2 wheels. It'll be a good way to end it.
More than likely will buy the trike Monday, assuming mama gives it her approval.
Trike is a white 05 GW with CSC conversion and 11,000 miles. Comes with an HB trailer.
Has the ezsteer , rode two other trikes w/o it and was amazed at the difference.

The trike sounds beautiful, Rick. And yes--you WILL appreciate the EZ steer feature!

I can't wait to hear from you on Tues after you have really riddin it . and then again after the 500 mile break in (of you not the trike ) i have 2 2wheelers. In town they are great. But on the open road , when i am about 5 miles out of town on them I say why am I ridin this. a friend and new member finally when to 3 wheels. a real hard sell also . I saw him after his trip from Stirgis . He rode 2 straight day is the rain. Said if he was on 2 wheels he would have spent the time in the motel. He said he actually enjoyed the rain. On a high-way you forget you have the wheels back there . just don't forget when you get to a toll booth or a gas pump

yea, just thinking about those concrete posts at the gas pumps makes me nervous.
i toured the Motortrike factory last year -- saw a repair job they were doing on a trike that had the fender wiped out.

Once you are on three wheels you will never go any other way. Blondie Gal stated it perfectly.:wtg:

I have a trike, and two other two wheel bikes. Sort of have a bike for all occasions.

I use the trike mostly for long distance traveling. The other two bikes I use for day rides and short trips.

I guess I am trying to burn the candle at both ends.

When I bought the trike, I had the same reservations, so I kept the ElectraGlide in the garage "just in case".

After a year without ever once getting back on it, I finally sold it to my son-in-law. Now I get to ride with my daughter!

I have two other two-wheelers, but they rarely get ridden.

take a look at the voyager kit or the tow-pac set up. you can enjoy the benefits of both bikes with out the big investment. then after some miles you can decide which one is best for you. good luck with your decision.

    Rick,

Welcome to Trike Talk... For me, the decision was rather clear. Go to a trike or stop riding all together. I suffered from a stroke a little over two years ago that affected my right side, mostly my right arm and hand. This fact made my choice of converting my GL1800 into a trike not as likely, since I'd have trouble operating the "bike" controls. That is when I became interested in the Stallion, which has "car" controls. I bit the bullet and placed my order for one last June. After having test driven the Stallion I must say that I was very impressed with the performance, comfort and yes, the security of the three-wheeler. Will a miss the added excitement and the lean angles one can only experience on a bike? Yes, I probably will. But I would miss the wind in my face and the sense of freedom, a whole lot more, if I was to quit riding all together!
