What Turkey? We got a Greenberg this year

We normally fry our turkey but this year I decided to order a smoked turkey from the Greenberg family in Tyler Texas. They are famous for their smoked turkeys and say they sell and ship around 200,000 a year. Opra added it to her favorite things list 2017 so that will probably add another 100,000.

I was curious to know what the rest of the family was having turkey-wise?

It's nice to have a motorhome next to the house. It's like having an extra kitchen.

Stuffed Turkey with celery and onions. Coated turkey with Coconut Oil and Seared uncovered in oven at 500 degrees for one hour. Then covered and cooked till temp reached 160' Removed to seamer while cooking all the fixings. Too busy with friends and family, forgot to take pics...

Well are you hooked or will you be going back to your traditional turkey. We just fired the bar-b-que up to cook our turkey. Don't have pictures but it was great. We use Honeysuckle turkeys. We found Butterballs don't taste as good to us for some reason. Guess it's the injected watery butter that doesn't work so well outside instead of an oven. Both are dry heat so not sure why the difference but there is.

Two turkey breasts for our extended family that one of my sister in laws cooked.

Also dressing, baked mac n cheese, sweet potato casserole, and cheesecake came from my house. Broccoli cheese casserole, pineapple casserole, mashed potatoes and corn from my other sister in law. My mother in law baked a ham, and heated up a couple of cans of green beans.

I didn't like the stuffing and I don't know how the turkey could eat it either.

Did get a parole to go home. We had Turkey and all the fixings, but, my favorite was the meat loaf.

Drove up to my cousins farm (150 miles 1-way) for the day. Had a farm fresh Turkey. Amazing how much better a non - store Turkey tastes. Dianne had a baby to play with as an extra bonus....And Alices Restaurant was on radio as we were driving through NYC.

Ive had smoked turkey before, but it had a much light smoke to it than this one.This was different than any we have ever had, really intensly smokey, but very moist and flavorful, perfect for the turkey salad my son made with the leftovers. Right now, non us wants to see a turkey anytime soon.
