Never too early to start talking about our next New England TT rally

does not seem like it was that long ago. These thing take a lot of planning. Only 9 months away. .so do we have intrest. ? We are looking into the same area . Looking for less costly acomodations. We will try to stay closer to the $100 mark if we can . I think we lost a few because of that last year. . Still a lot to see in the area. So let's get the ball rolling. Who is going to be first with a yea! Or even a Nay . Like to hear from people. I talked to my shirt guy. Enough early interest we could do some bright colors. Would be great attention getters . Food was everyone happy with it last year ? I guess I am looking for good and bad comments. We can't improve if we don't know were we went wrong .

New England Trike Talk 2018

Just wanted to Jump in here & say Hi to you John, have'nt been traveling much, Wife has had couple of back surgeries, last one was Sept. 29th, it was alright for 4 weeks then she went numb in her legs from the knees down since them she has had a couple more MRI'S, one with contrast, then a EMG, now on the 26th of this month she is scheduled to have a Angiogram @ 6 a.m. so as you can see we"ve been tied up she can't stand or walg without assistance, so we have a couple of walkers & a chair that I just borrowed till I see what's up. Hope everythings going well with you & Honey, Merry Christmas to everyone in the group.Dave (Tis)

Me and Dianne would be interested in same area. And maybe I will finish (or start) loading all those millions of pics I have from last rally. They have been transferred to my laptop but now have to be shrunk. Too many to attach to postings, so trying to figure out how to do an album somewhere with all in one place. And collecting all video clips. Might put all of them into one massive YouTube.

Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays everyone....yes having some more input from last year would help, sorry I couldn't find a more reasonable place but the place we did stay at I thought was very nice. The problem with up there in a town like Windham, it's a tourist area so the prices are higher but on the up side, there are plenty of places to eat, just not close enough to walk to. If you get out to out skirts where the hotel prices are lower, there is nothing near by. The Grey Ghost Inn had the same issue although the cost was lower.

Yes, Andrew get those pics and videos posted for all to see, hopefully that will also create more interest for people that didn't go this year.

A Place to Eat and a Joint to Flop

If I'm not mistaken, the Gray Ghost Inn did have a restaurant. Based on that, one might think hotels any distance outside of Windham would have the same setup. Normally people who ski, which happens a lot when we're not around (lol), want to spend their time skiing and not foraging the countryside for food. Maybe the hotel search should start with that requirement then work it's way toward cost. Just a thought.

One place met those requirements fully, had a restaurant, price was good, except that it was very structured as to when you ate and what you ate.....think of Dirty Dancing the movie, the place I looked at was very much like the place in the movie....

No one wanted to be limited to that so I didn't go that route. It also helped that the owner/manager wasn't very helpful and didn't get back to me until it was close to the date.

I'll see what I can find, I'm picky, I'm sure most of you don't want a dirt bag place either.

Linda and I are interested for sure. As long as she is healthy we will be there. Could not make it last year she was in the hospital at the time of the rally.

Where is this rally supposed to be held??

If you let us know the location of rally, I'm sure you'd get much more response........and date's of rally

...If it's anywhere within 300 miles of my home Springfield, Massachusetts, count me in as a new-be..I'm there!

Thank you

Ronnie

Welcome aboard to Trike Talk Ronnie, I'm a relative newbie also, only a few years being a member.....

I did get response back from some people to do another rally in the Catskills again but I will need to get a better count before looking for a hotel. Last year we had a total of 30 available rooms but only filled 8 or less. The cost might have been a little high for some people but I was running out of available places to stay. The Catskills in the summer are busy so some of these places are reserved now. Unlike in Vt, most of the places in NY are geared to smaller groups and a full service experience, not a group of riders that want to spend all day outside the facility.

The first place to start is the number of rooms we need, if we are 10 or under, we will have more options, over that it gets more difficult. At the same time we are trying to keep the price lower.

If I can take an informal survey besides the people who posted here already who would want to go, please PM me and I'll keep track of the numbers. The nice thing about the Catskills, it's central to New England and NY, NJ, PA and further south.

I am thinking the week/weekend before labor day or the week before that.

My other thought is to pick a large hotel such as a Best Western but the reservations will need to be made asap since they do take in walk ins and a better chance of taking reservations from other travelers...

Count me in for sure if the get-to-gether is in New England.... Vermont, New Hampshire, Conn, Massachusetts ect, ect would be great....

Not during Americade week though

Ronnie

Please let us know ok?

Yes to all of the above :D

Is there a reason I don't here anything about going to Pennsylvania? There are several of us who ride 1500 miles one way plus 3-500 miles while there and Pennsylvania sure would be nicer for the long distance riders. Just a thought. Get togethers that start on a Sunday and end on Thursday also gives you better motel rates, a couple of days to get there and a couple of days to get home.

Sounds good to me also.

Pocono’s are a nice area. Plenty of interesting places and riding opportunities along the Delaware River also.

Wherever is decided, count me and Dianne in.

Pa is usually a pass through state for us on the way to Florida and back. We have stayed a few times near Hershey and in Gettysburg and usually it's a half day driving time from Ct. but that is down highways. If another group closer to that area would put something together, I'm game for that. I just don't know the local roads well enough to plan rides.

You probably would get better rates for a hotel there compared to eastern NY Hudson Valley area. It would be nice to see another part of the country from time to time.

I'm good for the Vermont, New Hampshire area.............When? date needed!

Ronnie

?

Not from area but really enjoy visiting

ive been out a couple times to the Ludlow Vermont area for a 4-5 state HOG rally decent rates ( not at ski lodges) lots of restaurants and many great rides

Just might be worth looking at

Hi Everyone, well I have been looking all over the Catskills for a more affordable solution for a rally there. One of our members, Seabiz, has been working independently to pick a place for her HOG group from Rhode Island. Last night Cathy shared her findings with me and we both ran into the same issues. Her rally is after Labor Day and you would think it would be easier and less costly to find a place but not.

A lot of these places up there are not large, many only have 5-10 rooms and there are no additional places nearby. Some are also way out with no other business around, including gas stations. In the end, Cathy ended up with just a couple possible hotels, two were just basic hotels with no other business near by and two in Windham, The Vienna where we stayed last year and the Thompson House which was the first hotel on Rt 296.

The Thompson House is her first choice as it has enough rooms, a meeting room for the group and a full breakfast and dinner everyday. The costs run from $97.00 to $132.00 PER PERSON PER DAY. This includes breakfast and dinner based on a 3 night stay and includes the room taxes and tips. Lunch would be on you. Other places in the Catskills offer similar arrangements and prices but The Thompson House has the advantage of being in a small town with services, gas, restaurants, pharmacy and liquor stores. On the low end, after subtracting meals, the room is $114.00/night for two.

I also looked at Vt again. It looks like the West Dover area is a lower cost option. The Grey Ghost Inn prices have gone up, the larger block of rooms are now $144.00, with taxes it's $158.00. It does include a breakfast but no dinners. The dinner there was $25.00 PP the last time, it may be up higher now, so the basic cost with one dinner for two is $524.00 plus buying dinners for two other nights. This actually more expensive overall compared to Thompson House.

I looked at Kitzof up the road from GG and they offer a better package, $398.00 for two people for 3 days, includes one dinner, breakfast every day, a meet and greet reception with cheese fruit and all taxes and service charges. I would need to check on handicap access for one of our members. Cathy (seabiz) told me that Kitzof is very nice and accommodating. The owners ride also.

So how about some feedback from the members and let me know if either one of these options are doable. If anyone has an alternate option by all means pass it along.

Vermont is very doable for me..I'll probably come solo, as wife doesn't ride too often... Kitzof Hotel, is very nice

Ronnie

I heard back from the Kitzof Inn and they have 8/9 - 8/12 and also 8/23 - 8-26 available with no bookings as of yet.....any suggestions, questions, etc.

I'm still going to look at Windham as well. It's not to bad to get there from anywhere....

Kitzof Inn good for me!

Just trying to bump this post on top again, have you heard anything about the Vermont rally hotels this summer (2019) as of yet??

just trying to make plans, for a meet and greet...

Ronnie

All options sound good. I did miss not going to Dover 2 yrs ago though.

Any thoughts about Adirondack’s? Tupper Lake is a nice town (30 miles from Lake Placid). But you wouldn’t want to be there after July (FYI. I am thinking of week of 4th of July there maybe).

The Mrs and I both liked Windham. Since we didn't go on any of the road trips (trike problem) we spent most of our time in town, except for one afternoon in the pool. We enjoyed knocking around the shops and eateries. Coming from Maryland it's the shortest ride of the three NE gatherings we went to.

We also went to West Dover. It was ok but a longer drive for us. The weather was an issue a couple of days.

We like the pricing, the amenities, the available dates and the location of The Thompson hotel. That's our choice for the gathering.

Update for rally

Just wanted to update everyone on rally.....we are still looking around the Catskill area for a place. Next weekend John (Lucky) and myself will be meeting with two places, one I have been talking to for two weeks and is on Rt 23 heading toward Windham and is closer to Cairo where the bike show was. The other place I just found out about this weekend, someone from my camp up that way purchased a ski lodge last year and friends who were visiting this past weekend made contact with him and we were able to talk last night. It's not far up the road from the Vienna where we stayed last year and has a full service restaurant.

So we should have something to report after next weekend as far as when and where, but it sounds as though we can have any time/weekend as of now at the second place. It has about 38 rooms some set up as a hostel with several beds for singles, from what the owner told me, he charges by the room, not per person so several singles could share a room and the cost.

I like VT but in reality, the Catskills are more central to the core of this region as far as member locations go. Once you get out to the extremes it does limit who would go.

Thanks,

Doug and John

Lets start signing. Up for 2018 TTNE rally.

Ok looks like plans are in place. Going back to Catskills this year. We found a place and I am thrilled about it. It may sound like a lot of money at first but think about this. Last year we paid $140 a night. , This year it is $89 a person. So 2 people is ( yes $179. ). If you are alone and want your own room it is $120 a night. ( actually 24 cheaper than last year for singles. ) But. But this includes a real breakfast ( last year was cold cereal, coffee and Danish ) this year ... eggs , bacon , Sausage, pancakes , juice, coffee..all you can eat .. also include this year .... a 3 course dinner.

Appetizer & desert With 3 different choices each night . And includes Cocktail ( yea after dinner drink ) If you get there on Thursday and check in there is a free 1/2 hour open bar ( unlimited drinks ). There is a full bar for socializing ( drinks prices are approx $5 each ) there is music and dancing ever Fri and Sat .. Indoor and outdoor pool, exercise room , and 3 places to have our meetings and chats, ( indoor pool , outdoor pool / hot tub and fire pit ) 00ps that 4 . Lets start the ball rolling. We have until May 30 to get people signed up. It will be the weekend before Labor day ... Aug 24,25,26 .

Doug will fill in the rest. I don't know if I can post pictures.

Nope. Still can't.

PS Doug just informed me we have less time than I thought .. Only April 30

I am excited I hope you are too. Let's make this the best. ...
