New England TRIKE TALK 2018

Ronnie, John and I live in the same town, Torrington, Ct. I will be going up on Thursday morning and I think John is going up about the same time. If you go out Rt 57 into Tolland, Mass., the next town you hit is New Boston at the junction of Rt 8. If you take a left on Rt 8 south it will bring you into Winsted, Ct. There are plenty of places to meet up, Micky D's, or Dunkin Donuts where we can meet you there.

Rt 57 is OK into Great Barrington but then you have to take Rt 23 and that will bring you through Hudson, NY and it's a little confusing. If you meet us in Winsted, we can go out Rt 44 to Millerton, NY and I have some real nice back roads that are great for riding with hardly any traffic. I end up on Rt 23 but it by-passes Hudson and Great Barrington.

We usually have a couple more trikes from Ct that meet us in Torrington so even before you get to the rally you will know a few people. Everyone is friendly too, no brand bashing going on, as long as you don't mind riding with a bunch of old guys and gals. Also just so you know, we are not speed freaks, all the rides are done at the posted speed limit or below, New York requires a helmet so don't forget to have one. Last year we picked places to go based on what the members wanted, we ended up going to Bethel Woods, the site of the original Woodstock one day and took the tour through the museum. If you have time this spring, take even a car ride out that way to check out the roads with your wife, the state did a big resurfacing job a few years ago and most of the roads are in great condition. If you have any questions just let us know...

Never know we might meet before that. Not a big fan of driving in that direction. I do get to Enfield , and Granby, OTIS , Westfield, Southwick . There is a woman in your area that showed interest in coming. She has a Spyder . I am going to try and contact her again .

Now, that's funny you mentioned Woodstock, (cause I was there in 1969, Bethel NY.. I was 19 yrs old then) I lost my parent's VW car, all my clothes, everything, I bought was lost, I could go on for hours about all the fun/ entertainment, I had while there for those three days of partying/playing in the rain, and listening to music (some of it I really can't remember...LOL) Yes that would no problems meeting you at a place...

I'm glad you mentioned not speed freaks, cause I agree with you, Good news ,(I'm not a speeder either)....It just would be nice to know some folks before even going, someone to talk too, laugh with, and reminisce with, while there, :clapping:.....Yes please keep me posted, if you want ok?

Thank you,

Ronnie

John, just keep me posted, as I really don't live that far from Enfield, Otis, Westfield ect. ect. (I live in Springfield)...

Thanks all! :clapping::clapping:

Ronnie

I have lost contact with that woman that has a Spyder. I will keep in contact with you . Nephew lives in Grandby. Hope you decide to come. I personally think this is going to be the best yet. I hope others see it that way also.. Of course we would love to see 60 or 70 people ( 30 to 35 trikes ) but the small groups are also a lot of fun and easier to manage. . Everyone is welcomed with open arms. No strangers in this group. We have new people show up each year. Time is getting short for the sign up. Not saying you can't sign up

after the end date . Just now the motel is all ours . After that May 30. It could be harder to enroll and get a good room . The motel goes into a normal sign up. Anyone can get a room.

If anyone needs a roommate let me know ok? again, much cheaper on the wallet for sure! Wife doesn't ride as much as she used too, but give's me her blessing, to get and enjoy myself... Thanks for everything!

Ronnie

Hey Don,

I see that you signed up for the rally in the Catskills this summer. Are you still in Sebring now? I'm from Ct but in St. Pete for a few weeks. I'll be heading to Sebring to meet with friends next Saturday and then going to The Wild Turkey Tavern in Avon Park. We are supposed to meet up around 11:30 to 12:00 for lunch. Other friends are riding up from Jennings Beach area to join us, about 10 people in total. If your in that area stop by, I am not on the trike this year but have a dark blue Hyundia Santa Fe, most likely the only there with Ct plates.

If not, see you at the rally.....

Doug

I wish I kept the name of the woman from Springfield that just bought a Spyder. And was interested in the rally. I was not interested in seeing her and have since left all the dating sights. Is there some kind of get together ( bike night ,or car shows. ) maybe you can find people to come to our rally. If you see a woman on a Spyder might be her. We have a Bike night every Tues in town. There were a few in the Pittsfield area and one in Westfield

Time is getting short

I was going to wait until I got back from vacation next week to post this message but I decided not to wait. We have 16 days to get our reservations set and then the resort is free to open the rooms to other groups. As of today, I am only seeing 3 rooms booked, which 2 are John and my rooms.

The list shows 6 trikes including ours and besides ourselves, there is only one other person who is registered at the resort for a room. If you are on the list and and are registered, let me know so I can change the response on the list. One couple I know the situation but there are two other trikes that are showing as no registration.

If you fill out the sheet and intend to register with the hotel, please mark it as if you registered. Unfortunately because of privacy laws, the resort can't give out the names of the person or couple who has registered so the only way we know is to get this from the members directly.

I hope price is not an issue here, at $89.00 per person per day, when you factor in a full breakfast and a full course meal with drinks every day, the room rate is only $47.00 a day per person, $94.00 a day for a couple. To put that in perspective, Grey Ghost Inn is at $114.00 to $144.00 per room for a couple and only breakfast is included. This place is more central to New England and points south.

The resort is not going to cater for a small group if we only have 6 trikes and if we end up sharing the resort with another larger group, that group will have more say on food and meal times.

John is also trying to plan for after ride activities and prizes so we need to have a game-plan sooner than later.

It takes time to put these together and a lot of work so the quicker we can get this set, the better it will be.

If anyone is having issues getting the info, please e-mail me at dveronneau@sbcglobal.net

Seven days left to register and lock down the resort

only seven days remain to register and lock down the resort for this years rally......

Let's try this

We are either too early. I don't think so in past rally's we were already ordering shirts.

People are not on this forum as often as in the past

so if your not interested please tell us. Let's get a show of hands of people ( especially the regulars. You know who you are ) that are not interested in it. You don't need to tell us why unless you want to. Reasons busy, too far , to expensive , etc like I said not necessary but if you wish to express your feelings please do so we know what to do if we ever plan to do this again. Doug V has put a lot of time and leg work into this. :clapping:. I hope we can get this done. We are at the end of the sign up time and are standing now with 5 trikes. Please respond as a yea or a neh.. THANKS HOPE you say Yea! As the song says. You can sit it or DANCE. I hope you DANCE ..

Thank you both for your response. 1dn5up.. Have fun at the Dragon.

Anyone else ? I know there were at least 3 others that said they were interested. 10 trikes would be a nice group. Only 6 more days ...

Maybe the issue is lack of enthusiasm this early in the year. This winter was rough on a lot of people, even the last two weeks it was reported we had snow several days in northwest Ct. Hell, two weeks ago the wife and I were headed to Florida and saw snow right down to North Carolina and it didn't hit 60 until we hit the Florida line.

So even if you haven't registered with the resort by May 1st, do register as quickly as you can after that date. The resort will still take reservations from our group up to the last minute, if rooms are available. It becomes a crap shoot after that date because the owners will start accepting reservations from other groups....remember there are only 30 rooms or so available. Best case would be if another group heard about a bike group being there and decide not to book, worse case, another group comes in and takes over all available rooms.

Doug sorry I missed your post on 4/9 . My computer was down. anyway, I am waiting for a return phone call from Acra Manor So the wife and I will be registered. I went to a TT rally in Daytona about 3or 4 years ago . I had a red Stallion then. GW Roadsmith now. See yall at the rally!
