New "ish" member, 1st post. Just to say hello.

Hello All.

I joined about seven and a half months ago but then life took over and have just received a message from the admin bods that I should post or they may think that I am a robot. Well I can do Arnie's voice but that's where the resemblance ends.

I got hold of a Beemer K100 a while back, with the intention of triking it. I had gone to buy an axle for it but that fell through and life took over, with the trike idea being shelved in the process.

I am now looking around for an IRS unit so as to begin the process of building the trike and am trying to get as small and lightweight a unit as I can find. As the K100 is pretty heavy to begin with, I wanted to keep the finished machine as light as I could.

I shall be taking a look on the site to see if anyone has triked a K100 but life is still pretty hectic and I don't have a lot of it to spare.

I have not even had much spare time to take a look around the site since joining, apart from at the time I registered.

Hoping to change that and spend more time browsing the forum.

Thanks for the good wishes.

I keep hoping to get stuck into the trike and then life gets in the way,

What's that saying about, "Two steps forward and one step back"?

I have been having trouble getting the one step forward to begin with and what with Christmas coming up, well we all know how that goes.

It isn't helped by the need to rebuild my shed, thanks to some toe-rag/s who torched it.

That and never enough hours in the day, make for slow going and that's even before I get the spanners out.

I need to get the/a shed rebuilt/built, a tube bender built and then a frame made. I am currently trying to source the diff, so that I can at least start measuring up/setting out, how I want things to sit.

Once I get things rolling, me that is and not the trike, I shall be back (like Arnie) to pick brains, mooch ideas and ask for advice.

Hello Carol,

Thanks for the welcome.

It looks a lot warmer where you are.

It's currently 13 degrees in my living room, as I type, heating broke and yet another job to do before I get the trike started.

Still, I am sitting here, having had a cuppa' and with two hot water bottles to keep the cold away and trying to catch up on what I have been missing on the forums.

I'll get 'round to going out to try and source some bits for the heating this afternoon.

I remember reading once that if they could lower the average body temperature requirement for us humans, we could live an extra ten to twenty years. I may give it a try. Mind you, since the heating broke, I don't feel like I am living any longer.

Would love to live somewhere warm like you. My old injuries cause me to seize -up, just like the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz, when it gets cold. I have yet to find any suitable oil to put in my oil can that fixes the seized bits though.

Wow. I'm sorry your heat broke Rob. I don't handle cold very well. I've lived in Florida since I was a teenager. Before that though my family lived just north of you in Lincolnshire. What a beautiful country.

Hello All,

Thanks for the welcome.

I have travelled around Lincolnshire quite a bit in the past Carol, a lovely part of the country. I tend to feel the cold quite a bit, what with all the injuries I have suffered over the years. I would list them but it would turn this post into an out-take from “Jaws”.

Trying my best to stay warm, as I can’t get the parts for my heating. It is apparently too old and bits are unavailable, just like me. I wish I still had my mill and lathe and I could make what I needed. I had to get rid of them when I moved here, as there wasn’t room if I were to bring them.

Thanks Ladyonamission, love you trike. I hope things will get better in the New Year as this one has been a bit of a bind. Still, as the song goes, “Always look on the bright side of life, de dum, de dum, dem, de dum.”

Thanks Big Juice, hope to keep posting, time permitting. I am not sure if a picture would be the best way to repay everyone for their kind wishes and anyhow, I can’t find a camera with a strong enough lens to stand taking my picture without it cracking.

Thanks for the welcome Jim, wish I were where you are in NM. The two hot water bottles don’t keep me as warm as I would be if I were there.
