Question Tire Pressure

sorry for the inane -- but just bought this trike and wondering what pressure to use
    05 goldwing w/ CSC conversion
previous owner "thought" 40 in front and 26/28 in back -- higher pressure on right.

front tire in marked 44 max and rear is 41 max

Possibly different kits require different tire Pressures. I have a Motor Trike IRS and run 40 in the front tire (Pilot) and 20 in the rear tires......both rear tires carry the same pressure. Good luck!

The max on the rears are because they are car tires.
My Hannigan is 20 left rear, 22 right rear, 42 front BT45 w/reverse rotation.
The diff in the left to right rear is supposed to compensate for road crown, so I'm told. Not sure I buy that

I have a 2003 GW MotorTrike and it performs the best with 40 in the front and 22 in the rear. I' like them a llittle firmer in the rear because I almost always pull the trailer.

2004 with 2005 CSC Cobra. I run 39 to 41 in front, MPA reverse mounted. I just did a 800 mile trip. Started with 37 in front and 20 in both rears. Was not good!! on the return 400 miles I went with 39 front and 24 rear. Much better. The front had too much flex in the side wall with lower pressure. With the rears at 20, there was too much body roll and winds pushed me around alot. Ride was soft though. With 24 in rear and 39 front it handled well and less body roll. Front is a bit harsh but I think that is the suspension. The CSC build sheet says 28 rear. I might try 26 rear but will keep the front at 39 to 41 from now on. These are just my observations from this trip. I was 2 up and a light load.

Presently at 42 front (Dunlop OEM) and 16 rear (Mickey Thompson 29x12x15 S/R) . Ride is great. Still in the adjusting phase as this is a new conversion. I've been advised not to go too low in the rear to avoid possibility of the bead unseating. Even at 16 there is no sign of the bottom of the tire flattening at all, and these are radials.

The reasoning in this is due to the fact that the rear end is on the right side of the frame, and therefor the bulk of the weight is on that tire. Hannigan recommends ( starting ) at 26->28 and adjust from there to your preference. Where on my Yamaha the same is true for the other side ( the rear ens is on the left ) I run 40/41 front and 22 or 24 ( adjusted for what I feel is comfortable ) and use the air ride to adjust for load ,an road conditions IE twistie's on my MT 2+2

Thanks-I really wasn't buying that road crown story! Another one of those informative posts placed on that "other board" by another "expert"!

I've got 40 in the front and it handles fine.
Lookedat the CSC site -- it recommends 28 in the rear
    Thanks for the input

Got an 06 1800 with an 09 Hannigan kit. This is cut and pasted directly from the Hannigan manual.

Tire Air Pressure
Front - 35 lbs.
Left Rear - 28 lbs.
Right Rear - 28 lbs.
Tire Size
185/65 R15
If you live in an area where the roads have a high
crown, the tendency of the Trjke to follow the slope of
the road to the right may be countered by reducing
the left rear tire pressure to 26lbs.

Still playing with pressure. Upped to 25 yesterday and will ramp down again from there. Trying to improve fuel economy some. I spoke with both Frankenstein and Mickey Thompson yesterday. Frankenstein sets theirs at 25. Mickey Thompson recommends not going below 20 for street use but has no direct trike experience. Ride is harsher at 25 than it was at 16 but still better than 2 wheels. My installer also doesn't like to go below 20. I'm going to do the chalk line on the tire thing today and see what that tells me. I did measure 42 mpg yesterday with the higher pressure - pretty close to the 45 I got consistently as a 2 wheeler.
