Harley Lifetime Warranty?

My next door neighbor just bought a new 2018 Tri Glide from a dealer in Arizona while he was out there. He said he got a lifetime warranty on it and that it was a special promotion and collaboration between this dealer and Harley Davidson. He claims that this warranty is backed by HD and is good at any HD dealer even though only a few HD dealers have it available at this time. I don't know what dealer he purchased it from and while we were talking he had a phone call and had to leave. I don't see him very often but next time I do I will try to get more info.

Anyone heard anything about a lifetime warranty backed by HD? I suspect it is an aftermarket warranty of some kind. I have serious doubts that it is a MOCO warranty but maybe an aftermarket that HD will work with?

Most life time warranties stipulate that all maintenance be performed at an authorized dealer according to the schedule specified in the owners manual to include oil changes.

We have 2 dealers around here doing the same thing, life time warranty. As Retired Army said it is true if you let them do all the work and even oil changes it is a life time warranty. I finally got around to read the fine print and for some people this would be good, so not to good for people that like to do their own work especially oil changes, primary and transmission changes.

All for now Trampas

Don't know the cost of this LIFE time warranty but could get very expensive in the long run. Paying dealer prices for general maintenance such as oil changes and such would rack up the cost. Would like to read the fine print on this thing and see how it covers perishables such as tires, battery, fluid changes and so on. AND what about aftermarket additions ??

Fore sure it's going to cover the oil pump when it grenades on him in a few miles. Until Harley takes care of their analial-cranial inversion and fixes that problem. Have 5 friends/acquaintances that have been stranded on the road with oil pump problems.

My dealer knows nothing about this. Sure appreciate it if someone would give me the name of the dealer(s) who are offering it. I'd like to phone them for details.

This post reflects a lack of planning in the staff of the Harley organization. The life time warrantee is a marketing ploy to increase profitability. If the owner follows the warranty and Harley has to install free parts they still have made a profit performing the routine maintenance.

The one offered here in Raleigh is a power train warranty only. All services must be done by selling dealer or by a dealer participating in the program

And I have some "OCEAN FRONT PROPERTY IN ARIZONA" That he can purchase to enjoy While hes waiting for The dealer to show up and pick up his machine.. Because I am sure free pick up and delivery comes with the warranty

Bill, since you mentioned Raleigh I phoned Ray Price H-D and spoke to the F&I guy. He said they did offer the program but have discontinued it. They are transitioning to a new owner and the new owner seems to have no interest in continuing. He said there was an insurance company involved but he could not (more like would not) give me the name of the insurance company. He said some other dealers around the country are offering such a plan but he has no listing of them.

Like others have said depending on the cost of the plan and the cost of all the required services this could be more expensive than an ESP especially when there are other less expensive ESP options than the one offered by H-D dealers.

Yea, they were sold on Tues to the guy who owns Mother Road in AZ. I have a friend who bought a Triglide when they were still offering the warranty; if you want, I can find out the name of the insurance Co.

So far so good on my ESP. Got a rear shock replaced and the backem up motor also. So far I’m even in the $ dept. Any thing else for the next 4 yrs is on them.:gah: Only got it Incase of engine and trans issues to begin with, as I’m not a ESP kind of guy. Also got one on my

Sprinter, as Mercedes has no mercy on repairs.

When I was buying my 17 Tri-Glide I was seriously considering getting the Life-Time warranty ' But then I said to myself am I going to live that long to get my money's worth!;) 📞

Actually, it is the dealership making the profit from my understanding.

Ouch. One of the reasons I never bought one.

Personally if I were going to sell more product to dealers I would gently suggest they also persuade buyers to participate in the "life time warrantee program" so they could make more profit and purchase more of my product. I learned that in business 101

I have the 7 year extended warranty. I paid $1978.00. So far I have taken advantage of it for the tune of $2350+ and still have a couple years left.

I ride approx. 12K ~ 15K miles a year. I am not a mechanic, but can change fluids if I had to. So this warranty has been a godsend - for me.

Since it is not a required cost and my personal decision, I don't care that others think's it's just a dealer profit.

I probably wouldn't have bought a warranty if it had been a 2 wheeler, but since it's a TriGlide and has a bit more stress put on it - especially the way I ride it, I wanted some piece of mind. I have used it on both my TG's and haven't lost any money on either one.

Thankfully there is a choice.
