Default Yelvington - helping hand with some information anyone?

I've been searching and can't find much so this is stop #2.

We have a dealer who's got a customers Honda Silverwing with a Yelvington conversion on it with some "impact damage". They're wanting to pull the kit off and swap it with ours & was hoping I could give them some insight on any Honda parts they may need during the swap (ones removed during the conversion that we may utilize with our kit).

Does anyone have a set of install instructions, or able to offer any insight on jut how much of the Silverwing is removed or modified during a Yelvington build?

Even if our kit won't work or it'd cost more than it's worth I would like to be able to offer some insight to help out their customer in some fashion.

Thanks for the time & for sharing your experience/expertise.

Did a google and found the following website but no reference to a Honda Silverwing on their website. Maybe a phone call to the provided number might yield some info.

I thought about that, but didn't want to bother him unnecessarily, especially on something so "trivial" as this.

They are no longer in the trike building business..haven't been a a good long while. They sell shocks and a Harley reverse gear is all now. They never sold but a handful of trikes in their existence.

Yelvington just moved their offices over the holidays. Give them a call and they may have an archived PDF installation guide they might send you.

Thank you for the nice welcome. My wife and I recently became owners of a new to us 2011 Burgman Yelvington Trike with less than 8000 miles on it. I was able to get in touch with the fellows from Yelvington who were very nice prior to going down south to pick it up at end of November. That is how I know they were moving their offices. So do not give up on them. Even though they were in the process of moving, they did what they could to answer my calls, provide me with information, and even emailed me information while I was on the road in regard to what I needed to look at and for when checking out the Trike I was looking at and the conversion kit that was on it.

I have a Trinity trike set on my Burgman which now has been been bought out by Yelvington. I had two fenders crack on me this summer stress cracks so I emailed them in Fl thinking maybe they have the fenders in stock or know who made them from the company. Nope none in stock and no reply the second time. This company sucks I wouldn't buy one dang thing from them. The trinity trike set that was on my bike was junk. I had a engineer rebuild the trike set and now it is 100%. The parts inside the trike set were junk. Great concept but poorly made parts and metal. Good luck not many true trike sets out there anymore for silverwings or burgmans

I can certainly understand how you feel. So far we have been pretty lucky but I am sure our time is coming. From what I can tell there were two or three owners or versions of the Trinity Trike Set or conversion kit. I am no expert but I think that from what I remember later in the ownership when Yelvington bought they out they actually solved a lot of the issues the original Trinity Design had. We have metal fenders on ours. I would think the Metal Fenders could be copied. I know Motor Trike in TX makes a conversion kit and sells metal fenders for the Burgman. I know their conversion kits are pretty expensive. They do not sell them direct to the public and I think they only install them through their dealers.

The only thing we have had an issue with is the cover that goes over the rear brake that sits in the rear axle. It was fiberglass and in my opinion molded too close around the brake rotor. I think if they had just make more a boxy design it would have been better.

Jason the over all design is not bad but yes it has flaws. When I bought mine used from a lady in Michigan three years ago when I wanted to turn left it the bike was turning right. Man that was bad and I was 90 miles from home when this was going on. I got it back home called my buddy who took the entire trike set apart and that is when he said look at the metal that is in this thing all pot metal junk not even put together properly. Nothing is to spec. He is an engineer so these guys want everything to spec. He put it together again and the back was a hair off, again he took it apart and put it to spec. Then put it back together.

This year I noticed the right fender had a small crack in it. Then on a ride the crack extended to 12 inches. My buddy looked at it said you best take it to a body shop where they will need to weld it and repaint cost $1500 bucks.

The next time it happens going to buy fiberglass fenders from someone saw some on ebay.

I did convert the belt drive to a chain drive and the ABS on my bike never worked right with the trike set so i took it off.

Wow, sounds like you have an earlier model with a lot of problems. I guess I must have the later revised Yelvington model. I do not have a Belt Drive. I have a Chain Drive like that would use on a Harley to drive my rear axle. I just keep it well lubed. As I mentioned the only problem I have had has been the cover over the rear disc brake rotor which by coincidence would also cover the Chain. Let me know if you come across a spare fiberglass cover because I could use one. I just unbolted mine and I am riding without it.

I thought some of the later Yelvington's had Fiberglass fenders made for them. I know the metal fenders do shake a bit but mine seem OK for now. I would think that you could probably go to a Trailer place and pick up a fender that might fit. I don't know what tires you are running on the rear. I am running Yokohama tires at pretty low pressure and getting a nice ride in the back. I run a Michelin up front. I do not have a rake kit on it.

    I have a 2011 Burgman Executive 650 Trike

My bike is also a 2010 Burgman exe yet the trike set is a 2008 and it was the last of the Trinity Trikes before Yelvington bought the company. I looked at trailer fenders and that would be a good option as I can drill holes one the inside to hit the brackets yet the fenders need to be painted and that is the expensive part as I want them to look good. I have a guy from down south pinstripe the bike did a great job but now the fenders have been repainted and are all black to match the bike.

Yeah I had my fair share of issues with this bike for a turn of $3000 bucks but now it is in tip top shape. My body guy said the fenders were crap they were two piece fenders so the extra three inches inward were just bonded together that is why the dang things cracked. Should be find now as he welded them together.

I love my Burgman trike wouldn't sell it as it is a great ride, comfortable, twist and go plus it can keep you with any motorcycle on rides. Yet I still like to have a Spyder only because when I retire I may want to take a two week trip on the bike and go say from Ohio to Fl or out west. Not sure If I can do that on my Burgman however I do have plenty of storage.

As far as Yelivington I wouldn't buy a bolt from that company. Hear they are making reverse trike kits for Harley. If they are anything like the crap they put in their trikes when they made them Harley is going to have issues.

Also I see you're looking for a fiberglass cover for the back of your trike. I didn't opt for that but could have purchased one a few years back. I think you can get one. I did see somebody had one on another cycle thread a few months back. Let me see if I can find it.

I have the same tires you do on the front and back. I don't inflate the back tires more than 20 psi as it makes for a softer ride and less vibration. I lube the chain every 100 miles really good.

What I would like to do is put some LEDS under the bike and on the side for night riding. I think the more visibility the better. Not sure how much voltage this will take off the battery?
