    Default Reverse trike with outriggers

    Standard trikes with outriggers are legal. For example,CSC,Tourpack,etc.. they have four wheels but are legal. Can you add them to a bike with a two front wheel trike kit and still be legal. There would be five wheels.

    Are you referring to the use of LegUp landing gear on a reverse trike conversion? If so then the answer is yes, perfectly legal. As far as I know anyway. Not even sure why you would question the use of it since it's used only temporarily when slowing and stopping and not used while at speed. So maybe you are referring to some other type of outrigger so specify please.
    The only reason some people are still alive is it's illegal to shoot them.

    I'm really confused here (my wife says I always confused),

    First - why would you need "outriggers" on a trike?

    Second - my CSC didn't have 4 wheels, and "standard" trikes don't have 4 wheels!

    Third - 5 wheels? On what? I'm confused.....be more descriptive, please.....

    For legal purposes the out riggers are considered trailers...

    If they weren't then 4 wheels on the ground would have to meet automobile regulations......There are no legal 4 wheel Motorcycles....

    Thanks Rhino2,that answers my question. The reason I ask is,I'm considering a reverse trike but don't like the tracking issues. Rear outriggers would help a reverse trike track much better like a car and allow less wandering on the road.

    I had a Spyder [reverse trike]....And the tracking is not a problem as long as you Don't have a death grip in the handle bars..

    Think of it as the tail wagging the dog...Easy on the bars and no tracking problem..The Spyder has power steering [Electronic]

    The waging sensation is just the single rear wheel going off and on the crown in the road, Once you used to it 'You won't even notice it anymore...

    I've had 2 wheelers, a conventional trike (3 wheel) and now a Spyder (3 wheel) love them for what they were, 2 and 3 wheel motorcycles. If you are uncomfortable with riding a motorcycle, you might try a Miata. A great car that won't track like a motorcycle, but still give you that open air experience in a small package. Just my thoughts.....

    Wow "try a miata" . Not on topic. Not helpful. I already ride a trike. One tire in front,two in back. Tracks well. I have ridden 3 types of reverse trikes,they all have tracking issues,as in they wander,light touch or not. I'm sorry if you felt I am disparaging Spyders,I'm not. I really like them

    I think you are right. The light touch just keeps them from wondering like crazy. But they still will slowly wonder and need corrections. At least the very few times I've ridden my wife's Spyder that's what happens. Maybe if you ride it exclusively you get used to it but I seem to need slight corrections. My wife never complains of it though so it makes me question my own light touch even though I think I am, I might not be. But to be perfectly honest, if I take my hands off the bars on my bike, it will immediately begin to track off from the direction I had it going so I must be correcting there too and just don't realize it. I think it's due to the crown of the road so that has to be why Spyders seem to wonder as well. And just maybe others are used to the conventional trikes just like I'm used to the bike so never notice a tracking problem. Maybe???

    I didn't mean to come off cold......just saying that the Spyder is a Spyder, the ride is different. As I mentioned, I have had both types of trikes and they rode different (as you know). My conventional trike with the one wheel up front, I pushed through curves and turns with a small patch of rubber on the ground, the back two with all the rubber kept me stable (my Cadillac ride). My Spyder has a lot more rubber up front that picks the tracking up and and doesn't get pushed through the curves and is more precise, so the back is trying to figure out where to go, requiring more work (my Corvette ride). But I love it for what it is. Hope you find the outriggers you want and they do what you need and like. My opinion, just don't let your state licensing DMV see the bike with outriggers on it, and they will license it just as your title reads. Once it's licensed, you should be OK. I'm not a mechanic, nor have great knowledge, all I have is my experience. Now, I will shut up.........hope this was a little more on topic.....
