Eureka Springs Rides and ..............

With 11 pages already on the who's interested page I decided to start a new thread for rides while in area.

Feel free to chime in with ideas.

I'd love to have two rides per day hopefully one longish plus a shorter ride

a couple that interest me:

A ride over to Rogers/Benton and a vit to the Walmart Museum and Crystal Bridges Art Museum, Pig Trail to the Oark General Store then over to Clarksville for some great barbecue, another journey on the parts of the Pig Trail with a stop at the Low Gap Cafe

A ride down to the Oark General Store which is about 70 miles south would be interesting.



Oldest continuous-operation store in Arkansas, established in 1890. The building has the original floors, walls, and ceiling. Inventory includes groceries, convenience items, picnic and camping supplies; hunting and fishing licenses; game check station. The Cafe features home cooking; open daily serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Fresh pies and a great burger

North out of Eureka to 86, follow that to 65 and into Branson, MO to Dicks 5 & 10. http://www.dicks5and10.com/ It's like going back 40 or 50 years to the old Ben Franklin store.

Can also do the shops at Branson Landing about 2 blocks away if you've a mind to.

On the way back, go south on 65 then east on 86, at Blue Eye take 21 south to Berryville then 62 back to Eureka Springs.

The trip is about 1 to 1.5 hours each way depending on speed or stops, so that's 2 or 3 hours of riding time plus however long you want to stay in Branson. Good 1/2 day trip on some nice twisty Ozark roads. The 6 to 8 miles on 65, is a 4 lane highway.

The 80 mile trip to Springfield, MO and the Bass Pro Shops National HQ. 1/2 million sq feet of outdoor items, including the NRA Sporting Arms Museum, The National Archery Hall of Fame...

I really enjoyed the trip a couple of years ago. Just don't forget, MO requires a helmet.

Springfield also has the Air and Military Museum of the Ozarks, Route 66 Car Museum, Fantastic Caverns if you like the underground stuff, The Route 66 Springfield Visitor Center (Route 66 was planned in Springfield), and don't forget the World's Largest Fork

If you go north to Springfield on 65 stop at Lambert's cafe in Ozark,cool place and another good ride is hwy 7 south from Harrison.. Awesome ride you go by Arkansas' little Grand canyon!ed

At Regency planning to arrive Sunday

While in Branson you should really check out Dicks 5 & 10. Old fashion dime store, like stepping back 50 years - they even do inventory cy hand as there are no computers there. It's just up the street from the Branson Landing and Bass Pro, a smaller version than that in Springfield - they have less boats and might have 3 or 4 choices of something instead of 7 or 8 at the big store in Springfield. A good place to park is behind Dicks or in the parking lot next to Bass Pro. There is a free trolley in the historic downtown and Landing area, and I think there is a parking shuttle in the Landing lot to near Bass Pro.

I'll mention for any history buffs, in Springfield go west on Republic Road from Campbell, about 5 miles is Wilson's Creek Battlefield, it's bigger than Pea Ridge.

World's largest fork,

I'll mention too, the cafe at MO. hwy 86 and 13, Blue Eye, has pretty good food, just before you get into Blue Eye.

Hemmingway's on the second floor of Bass Pro has very good and the Sunday Brunch is worth the trip from ES.
