Planning on checking another bucket list item off in late June by doing the Lake Superior Circle tour. Have read and been told it is one of the must-do motorcycle rides in the country. Have spent a lot of time traveling the Michigan side of Lk. Superior, but never have gone around into Canada and looking forward to the trip. Curious if anyone here has done this ride and, if so, can comment on places to stay (motels - not a camping fan) and/or places to see. Appreciate any comments.....

Dave I was stationed at Duluth AFB back in the late 60's. Rode the north side several times. But being so long ago advise would not help. Isle Royal is a nice stop to see. My wife was pregnant with our first daughter and got sick on the boat ride but we had a good time on the island.

We do will be in that area in June. It is our 50th anniversary and we are going to go back to where it started. Should be in the Duluth area towards the end of June.

Enjoy. The Canadian highways are nice.

That is a great ride up there

When we lived in MN we rode to Duluth a lot and rode the N shore

The only thing I can say is: Ya can NEVER predict the weather along that big body of water

One year on the way back from Grand Marais in June My wife was SO cold she fell asleep on the back of the bike

I did not know it till she wiggled a bit

Plan on carrying some hoodies and gloves just because and have a Great ride

I have a cousin in Duluth I haven't seen in years so we will definitely be stopping there for a day or two. We will tentatively be in that area the last week of June so maybe we will cross paths somewhere....

My wife and I did the circle in 2011. We took our time and stopped by some of the sights. In upper Michigan we went to Copper Harbor, nice roads, nice riding went all the way to the end of highway 41. We went up highway 61 along the lake, you need to take the old highway 61 through all the little towns and you are next to the lake. We stayed at a casino in Grand Portage at the border, they had a great walleye breakfast :) We stayed two nights in Thunder Bay and visited the waterfalls west of there, Kakabeka Falls. It is a must see.

Went to a Amethyst mine north of Thunder Bay. We were on our Ultra Limited at the time and it was a gravel road and up a nasty hill, reminded me of dirt bike days except with a 900 lb bike :) and my wife did not like it. Once you get off the main road there are a lot of gravel roads. Gas stations / restaurants / motels are not too abundant. We stayed at Gloria's Motel and Restaurant in Marathon, good food and clean room.

We got gas in Wawa at the General Store, which is also a good visit complete with outdoor toilets with modern fixtures. They also have dill pickle favored everything, bought some dill flavored fudge. :) Wawa is the last gas station before getting to Sault Ste Marie, which is about 140 miles. Along the coast in Upper Michigan to Munising is a nice ride also. By the way we went clockwise as we started out north of Green Bay Wisc. Have fun on the ride, I think we were gone a week or more. Ride safe.
