    Default To Roadsmith folks

Any chance of you fine folks coming to Americade in Lake George New York this June??

I'd love to meet/greet you folks to thank you, for making my motorcycle riding fun again...

I got pretty sick last season, and Doctors said no more riding motorcycles again for me.........

Well did I fool them, since R/Smith triked out my Goldwing, I've been all over, traveling, No moss growing on my motorcycle this past season....

"Blacky" is now hibernating and taking her long winter's nap now, but soon she's be waking up and wanting to roam again...

    Thank you,

    Ronnie

I'll second that. I'll swear you stop living when you stop riding. My physical therapist was ticked off when I arrived one day on my bike after a major crash. I was released immediately. They were holding me back. I made major advances after I started riding again.

Thanks guy(s)... Yep life is good once I triked "her" out..........I'm now riding again, and enjoying life, I was DOWN for a year, cause doctors says no more riding for me, they also said no more walking also.... I had a major seizure while riding the "Tail Of The Dragon" ....Had to get helicoptered out.......I lost a lot of oxygen so the brain shut down , Well, a year later, I'm now riding more then ever, and walking anywhere from 3 to 6 miles a day now! plus I love snow skiing, so off I go twice a week skiing in Vermont.. in two weeks I be flying to BIG SKY Montana, and tackling that mountain.

Thank you Roadsmith, for all your help! BEST MOVE I EVER MADE! No moss growing under my Goldwing

We are giving serious consideration to attending Americade (once again). Probably the Tour Expo area. Once decision is final, we will be sure to update TrikeTalk asap!!

Would be nice to see you there, they made some changes, logistically that is. Tour Expo is one of them they have moved it to a different location

I will try to find them at the cade, (before I triked), I really never gave it a thought, to visit a trike dealership, BUT NOW I will go out of my way to visit, I have a couple of questions to ask, BUT most important to me is to thank them..

Doesn't look like their coming, they don't have Americade listed on their rally schedule. I'll be heading down to NC after Americade to have a Roadsmith kit installed on my Valkyrie

Didn't I read where you went for a whole week, but now your not going to go? There is going to be someone there that is a Roadsmith dealer as well as other kits, he is extremely knowledgeable about Roadsmith, did you have specific questions you need answers to?

    Hi frank,

Yea we always go for a week, we already have a house on the lake rented, BUT if Roadsmith is not going to be there, My heart won't be either... My big question: will be about changing the rear gear fluids, (I have read that there is a place to change it, and then I hear there is not) so now I'm confused, and want to actually see where those drain bolts are located.... I have lifted my bike up, and tried to locate those [drain/filled] bolts but cannot find them...I did see two grease zirks, that I have faithfully greased, every couple thousand of miles, I guess I'm a maintenance freak....If anyone knows where there located please info me...

    Ronnie

    Thank you!

Changing that rear gear fluid is not an easy job, I finally had to fork out the bucks to get it done. That filler hole is jammed up in there in a non accessible area. I've read that one guy drilled a hole in the trunk and accessed it with a filler hose, then capped it off, I'm not willing to do that I think it's recommended every 50K miles, so I don't get too excited about it. I think it could be done by running the trike up on ramps so ya could get up under there and access the fill and drain, then ya gotta be sure to put the exact amount in so ya don't over or under fill. There are other ways to jack the rear end up and secure with stationary jacks on each side, but I'm not willing to do that either. Just my opinion, but seems to me Road Smith could have designed an access filler tube from the trunk, but I'm no engineer so take that with a grain of salt. This discussion could be related to GW's design of the hiding the air filter. Life is not easy. Jus sayin here, my suggestions are not meant as gospel, I don't want anyone to get hurt following my foolish thoughts and sue me or something. Zook works on this stuff all the time, maybe he has as thought or two.

Not sure about the Roadsmith's, but on my Champion, I jacked up the rear, put jack stands under the body and let the axel "hang". Gave me lots more clearance to get a hose in there.

Interesting, had not thought of that, would need some investigation up under there to see if there was somewhere on the body or frame that would support the trike on the jack stands and let the 'rear structure' hang to reveal the filler. If it works on the Champion, maybe it would work on the Road Smith. I would have to satisfy myself, breaking something is not an option.

Hi Ronnie, did you have your conversion in Keene, NH? If so are you finding them not helping you with your question? Have you contacted Roadsmith? I don't like it when after make a big purchase, customer service disappears

Anyways, looks like someone was nice enough to give you the information you were looking for

Road Smith used to be pretty good about monitoring this forum for RS posts and questions, but maybe they got busy or something. It's good PR if a trike company responds, but an employee time is money, so who knows. On the other hand, $15K is a lot of dollars for a build, seems to me it's worth it to a trike fabricator to respond to questions about their product, but always the caveat, that's just my thinking. They really must know what they are doing, one of the very top trike fabricators out there, so they sure don't need my advice.

Really good points, but it sounds like the kit installer isn't responding to questions, but hey, we've all had good and bad customer service experiences in our lives. I've yet to purchase anything and during the sale process was told, "We're here for you after the sale".

Did you try the phone number on their website during the business week?

I think I saw a post from them somewhere that they don’t monitor this website as much as they would like to. But, as reputable as Roadsmith is I’ll bet they would answer their phone unless something critical has happened with them.
