I highly recommend if you don't have the service records for your new toy, that you do all maintenance that should of been done to the mileage of your trike. When I got my 08 with a champion conversion, I found lots of stuff that hadn't been done. For example, my 08 had 31k on it, so I did all scheduled maintenance to 30K. I didn't do all the oil changes, just one. Did only one of each if more than one should of been done for each service item. Also checked with the dealer for needed recalls.
My experience is that some Gold Wing owners tend to believe their Gold Wing is "bullit proof" and that if the do oil changes, they are good. The dealer I bought my trike from (independent, not a Honda Dealer that I've purchased a few bikes from) warned me he had no idea what had or had not been done and I assured him I would done all that should of been done.
The most commonly not done are the brake fluid flushes/replacement, clutch fluid flushes/replacement, coolant flushes/replacement and the air cleaner replacement. These tend to be pricey if you have Honda do it. My air cleaner was so dirty, after replacing it, the trike ran kind of rough for about 20 miles, until the ECM adjusted to more air ... LOL. The trike ran really good before I changed it, better now and MPG jumped up some. The sight glass was "cloudy" o the clutch, now it's clear. The temp gage stays lower since the coolant was replaced.
If you look close you can see some indication of the paper actually "swelling" due to moisture.
Also, not sure when the rear differential fluid had been changed, but there was moisture in it also.
Now I'm not saying your bike will die if the maintenance isn't done because the Gold Wing is somewhat "bullit proof", but, better safe than sorry, especially on a long trip. JMHO

Hi Dave! Welcome to Trike Talk from South Central PA!
"I don't need a map. I still have a road in front of me!"
Thanks for the welcome everyone. Especially the advice or getting the bike serviced prior to the trip. Other than an oil change I doubt any maintenance has been performed. Any leads on a good mechanic in the Lancaster PA area? Thanks again

Dave, Welcome to Trike Talk Forum. Glad you joined. I love the Strasburg area and would annually make a trip to the Train Museum back in the 1980's. I think I might have to take another ride up there and maybe visit the Amish Mafia !
Pennsylvania has the 2nd most motorcycles per capita so finding a mechanic shouldn't be too difficult. Ask your local Goldwingers (GWRRA) for the knowledgeable and honest mechanics in the area.
