Any one take the cat out, do a stage 1 with light cams?
Did you notice any difference with the cat out Vs with it in?

Ed, from the ones I have talked to, getting rid of the cat cuts the heat a lot
That said, you can find cat free pipes on E bay pretty cheap
This way you can keep your cats in case you need them some day JMO

2012 Triglide. Took out the cat myself. Added the stage one air kit and V&H wide ovals and V&H Fuel Pac. No other mods at that time. I was very happy with the huge difference in power and the reduction in heat coming from the pipes. I also noticed right away that my motor didn't cut down to one cylinder at traffic lights in the city. Before the mentioned changes, it used to cut out all the time when hot and going light to light in the city. I never could get used to it cutting out like that at lights. After the changes, I have only had the engine cut out once during very hot weather and hitting about 7 traffic lights in a row in the city. I hear people in here say that taking out the cat doesn't change the heat issues. I cant believe that with what I found out on mine. The cat keeps all that heat in the pipe and it cant get cooled down. I know the combination of the changes I made changed my bike from a hot slow motorcycle into a much more fun bike. Now, we cant really talk about miles per gallon as the mileage went down some with these changes. It was totally worth it though.

To Jack Klarich: Where on ebay did you find cheap Tri Glide de-catted pipes?
I found only 1 seller, and he wanted $150.00
Add some to that, and I could buy Fullsac or Fuel Moto.

I purchased a catless headpipe from Wild Pigs. I called first and verified he had one in stock and then drove up there. The website shows the cost as $150.00 but $50.00 of that is a core charge, so the price was $100.00. I have been very happy with mine and highly recommend this pipe. Here is the site for them http://www.wildpigpipes.com Hope this helps

As OldSarge says, wildpigs has head pipes on ebay without the cat, also american custom has had pipes without the cat also, both have core charges to send yours back or just pay a little extra to keep your head pipe. By the way these are stock harley head pipes with that have the cat removed.
Or you can buy any after market head pipe that you want that does not have a cat in it, more money though, if I was going to do it I would go with the fuel moto head pipe, just me, plenty to choose from.
All for now Trampas
Thanks for the replies. I live in Florida, and I'll probably drive to Holly Hill with my takeoff.
This forum is fantastic!!

I have found 3 stock head pipes on craigslist locally. The first one I found was off of a 2012 Road Glide. The second was off of a 2013 Road King. The third one I was not sure what it came off of. I cut the cat out of all three. You have to remember if you get a head pipe off of a 2 wheel bike, you will have to buy the short S pipes to make them work for the Triglide. I got mine from V & H along with the fuel pac. They aren't a lot of money and it allowed me to keep my catted stock Triglide head pipe. The most I paid for a head pipe was $60. The other 2 were $50 each and included the entire systems. If you take your time and don't get in a hurry, it will come along.
Its not that hard to remove the cat if you have the right tools. You can get it welded back together by any weld shop if you don't know anybody that has a tig welder.
The secret to all of this is to watch craigslist or ebay often. Those of us who are always looking for good deals on cool stuff are always on those sites watching.

It can be done.

I replaced the header pipes on my '16 triglide with Cobra headers. I have the stock headers and will give them to anyone wanting to reimburse me for shipping from IL 62034.
