I don't quite understand curling
It is fun to watch
I bet it takes a lot of practice and patience
Curling, that's it. Great skill and strategy involved. Apart from that, not much interest.
"The test of the machine is the satisfaction it gives you. There isn't any other test. If the machine produces tranquility, it's right. If it disturbs you, it's wrong until either the machine or your mind is changed." - Robert M. Pirsig, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance: An Inquiry Into Values

Popsci has a story on the lenses used at the Olympics. Only $223K for the high end one! That doesn't include the camera.
I get nervous shooting the stuff I use, I can't imagine using a lens like that...

Those ND twins got the job done last night! One made the tying score that put the game into overtime, the other made the winning goal in the shootout.
Bittersweet victory for ND. State ended the women's hockey program at UND this year - budget cuts. Our girls will have to go out of state to continue any hockey ambitions...
I have watched a lot of the stuff and how on earth some of you can complain about politics, felons, drugs, money grabs, etc. being part of the games is beyond me. What is political about watching guys ski 50 kilometers? What felons participated? Drugs? Besides the russians, what are you talking about and who is grabbing any of your money if you watch? I loved the biathlon stuff. I liked the speed skating....for the most part. That short track stuff is survival of the fittest! Since many of you didn't watch, you missed out on some epic hockey especially with the USA women. I DON'T like the opening or closing ceremonies. I also passed on the figure skating. I did watch the curling and how the US team came back from being also rans into being champions. Some disappointments with the US teams, but oh well. Can't win them all. I thought it was a crime people were critical of Vonn for not winning the downhill especially when it came to light that her ski was coming apart. How was it her fault that her ski broke? Tough luck, but get real, she still came in 3rd on a ski that was missing a big piece. The competitors in the luge and the skeleton definitely have a death wish. Apparently many of you missed the guy winning bob sled by crashing across the finish line with his sled flipped on it's side going 80+ mph. If you didn't watch, to bad for you. You missed out on some really good competition and some compelling finishes.
