    Default Post stage 2 mileage

Looking for guidance or confirmation regarding a stage 2 I recently did to my 2018 Ultra Tri-Glide.

I guess I never fully understood how much my gas mileage would drop after switching from my 2 wheeled cvo Ultra , to a trike...

And now after adding the stage 2, it's really dropped..

A couple questions for you guys... What would you expect normal gas mileage to be on a stock 2018 tri glide with no upgrades.? About 200 miles to a tank.? Or less.?

After a stage 2, what would you expect.? I'm looking at approx 175 miles to a tank... and I do admit to twisting the wick a little..

I haven't yet dyno' d the trike yet, hoping that might be a benefit for power and getting the fuel air mix right...

Curious what folks thoughts are on what is considered normal...

    Thanks, Matt

With my 2017 Triglide perfectly stock 38 to 40 Mpg. With my ex 2011 Tri glide True duels catless slip on's my mpg went up a little bit . Once I got over added performance rush and started to drive normal again!

Just remember All stage 1 or2 are not the same sometimes the owener might have to fine tune it after driving it a while 📞

The mileage you are quoting is in the normal ball park. Maybe a little low on the after stage II, Yes a good tune will help some. Just remember when you start hopping up the power the gas mileage has to go down. The power comes from more fuel used more efficiently.

I would expect that to be normal

Bigger displacement engines need more fuel, they run a bit hotter

Do you have any kind of tuner on the trike now?

    I have 2015 stage 4. Driving 65-70 gets 30-33.

Driving 75-80 drops down to 27-28

I have whatever the "stock" upgraded tuner that HD uses... I've considered changing it to a TTS tuner.. is that necessary though.? TTS = $400 plus the tune..

This is good to know. Quite a bit of my riding post upgrade has been 75+ freeway riding.. I'm prolly close to normal based on what I'm reading.

Check with Kevin @ DK Customs on a Power Vision tuner

I think most people going to three wheels are a tad shocked by the mileage they get.

When I first got my Tri, I took a 120 mile ride (no fuel stations in-between) and almost didn't make it. The light was on when I got there.

The thing to remember is an Ultra weighs in at what 800-850# and a Tri at 1200# or so. Almost 50% increase not to mention the "Outrigger" wheel configuration. I spent lots of $$$ and lots of time with the power vision tweaking the tune and got my mileage up to around 32 mpg @ 75 mph and was thrilled.

When I got the Honda conversion, I was pretty jazzed it got 32 mpg @ 75 mph just as it sat. Never did any mods.

You can tune for power, economy or a compromise of the two. When you compromise you will lose some of both sides.

Out here in the flat lands I’ve never achieved the mileage numbers being tossed around. I had a 2010 that had a stage one with true duals and a TTS TUNER. I averaged around 32 with it. I now have a 2018 that I have left stock so far and it seems to be averaging 30. It has only 700 miles on it. Maybe it will improve with more miles and with warmer weather. Rhino 2 maybe your on to something we need to know.

I have a stage 4. I get 32 MPG no matter how I ride it but I am pretty much always over the speed limit. Don't care what the milage is as long as it runs like I want it to. If your gonna pump up that motor for performance, ya gotta expect the fuel to flush down the drain a little faster. But I ride an antique. Maybe things have changed now.
2011 Cool Blue TriGlide with full stage 4, a lotta other upgrades, and a lotta shiny stuff.

I have a 120 ST engine and get around 33 running 55, if I get out on the Interstate at 75 it drops quite a bit, never checked it.

Now that I've had a chance to ride a couple full tanks of gas I have a better feel for what my mileage is shaping up to be and I haven't yet gotten a dyno. I'll get that done in two weeks.

As long as I stay under 75, My mileage is 33-35. Perfectly happy with that coupled with the great performance of the Stage 2. On the super-slab over 75 it goes down noticeably quicker and I think a good tune will help improve that.

Great running Trike, lots of torque where I like it.

I just ordered the DX 14" Comfort Lift kit... just keeps gett'n better

Don't expect a big difference in MPG above 75 after you dyno it. It's not the engine tune that's the reason for the mileage. At that speed you are like trying to drive a barn door thru the wind. Your wind resistance is very high at those speeds.

i just did the stage 2 on my 2017 tri glide and mpg dropped to low 30's high 20's so far... but I need more miles on her to tell for sure (still cold here in NY State) .

I do have a question... did you go with the "torque" cam or the "power" cam on your stage 2 upgrade?
