    Default Traxxion

I've had a continual issue with " clanking" in my front suspension since I got the Trike. I've checked loose plastic, had the spacers removed, and checked every other thing I can think of. Now looking at Traxxion to fix my problem. Anyone out there have any experiences with Traxxion suspension on their Trike? How did it help, or not. Thank you all in advance.

Before you had the motorcycle converted, did it have that clank ?

I suppose you had a E-Z Steer done at the time too.

If the noise is indeed coming from within the fork tubes themselves, a fork internals change should fix it.

Take it to someone competent for a diagnosis and not someone trying to sell you something.

If it is the brake calipers (pads), caliper covers, ring-of-fire, the rear of the fender, the front of the fender or something loose beneath the cowling, Traxxion is not going help.

Is the noise heard when you are in a turn? If so, get the front wheel off the ground. Loosen the pinch bolts and retorque them.

Also loosen and retorque the head bearings

That right there proves you don't know anything about Traxxion Dynamics. I can't imagine anyone more qualified to diagnose the front end of a Goldwing than Traxxion.

I've had their Mega-Monty components on my 2-wheel Wing since 2011 and still have the AK-20s up front since the conversion in 2015. Here's my opinion:

They were an absolute game-changer on the 2-wheel wing--made it into a 900 lb. sport bike for real. Way better than the stock suspension in my opinion. On a trike--I don't know--I've always had them since I converted so I don't know what a stock front end on a trike drives like. I know my front end doesn't dive even under hard deceleration and my trike handles like it is on rails.

Traxxion builds great suspensions--I've always been glad I took the plunge years ago. Will their AK-20s fix your clunk? Maybe just a rebuild and new springs will do that.

Thank you for the response. How about when you ride on bad roads. Do your springs bottom out?

My Traxxion springs have never bottomed out--never. They are firm.

I tried everything to stop the "clanking" when I ride bad roads. Checked everything, had my tech ride it two sided taped every bit of plastic, checked steering, etc etc etc etc. The guy I plan to use to install the Traxxion is going to talk to Dan in Ga. and make sure what I need done will benefit from an installation. Just along as the "firmness" doesn't make the clanking an worse.

CobraXL, I, unlike yourself, never claimed to be an expert on Traxxion Dynamics, I am simply pointing out that a proper diagnosis should be sought before a commitment is made in solving the complainant's problem. You obviously already have the solution for his particular problem.

FRR, you seem to be relatively satisfied with spending the money whether or not the problem is cured, why did you ask for advice in the first place ??

Look Mann, I asked for advice because this is a great site to communicate with folks who have experience with many things. I'm not trying to be "satisfied with spending the money whether of not the problem is cured", so that comment is uncalled for. I asked for comments and appreciate most of them, but I really don't need a lecture about looking for a shortcut or having a bridge for sale. If you can't offer any construction information, don't respond to the post. It's that simple.

I don't see it mentioned (and perhaps I missed it), but a few details that may help determine (as best we can without having the bike to look at/inspect).

What year is the motorcycle & how many miles are on the bike? If it's not a new bike, have the forks been previously rebuild/serviced & if so, did they do a fork seal replacement or seal AND bushings?

Bushings can be hard to "feel play" in depending on how worn they are. Had a personal motorcycle once that drove me absolutely bonkers with a "rattle". One day I decided to stand up on the pegs & lean over the nose cover & I could see the front axle moving forward & back with road inconsistencies. Turned out all along it was worn fork bushings, BUT they weren't worn quite enough to really be able to "feel" with the front wheel off the ground.

Have the steering head bearings been checked to make sure they aren't torqued improperly/too loose?

Triking a bike DOES change the motorcycles characteristics (I'm sure you already know this). Could it be a damaged fairing stay causing the noise (I've seen this more than once & have seen it misdiagnosed as well).

Did you check to see if the fender & caliper covers are broken (best way is to remove them & inspect). I've seen MANY bikes come through the door with "noises" in the front end that ended up being a broken tab on one of these.

I know you said you & your mechanic "checked everything", but a list of what you checked specifically wouldn't hurt. I've found many times that one persons idea of "everything" is vastly different from another's. Always good to be able to check off those lil boxes.

Disclaimer, I'm only 1/2 pot coffee into the day so If half of this was mentioned specifically and I missed it, accept it as my lack of caffeine intake (I promise I actually do have a partially functioning brain!).

I have a traxxion front end and love it.. on my Goldwing 2010 triked out bike...It's hard to say whether any additional service will work without any of us seeing/hearing your problem..No one can answer that question truthfully....IT'S LIKE ASKING: MY ARM HURTS, DO YOU THINK IT WILL FEEL BETTER IF I KEEP IT RAISED, OR HOLD IT IN THIS LOCATION??..

I'd say bring your bike to a Trazzion dealer, and let them answer your question!

Like I mention above, I have a Trazzion front end and I totally love the way it feels....BUT I didn't have any of the problems that you were mentioning on your post question.

FRR--this is a very common occurrence when anyone asks questions about Traxxion Dynamics components. There's never a shortage of people who line up to tell you it's a waste of money and you are foolish to buy it. Ask anybody who has it how much improvement it made to their bike and if they want their money back--almost universally people love it.

Myself I think there are just a lot of guys who can't afford it or their wives won't let them spend on it so they don't think anyone else should be allowed to have it.

Please keep us posted OK, as I'm very interested in whether or not it did indeed help your situation....

That's a hard question for anyone to really answer, cause no one has any idea, what is really wrong w/o seeing it themselves with your front end.. BUT again, as far as the trazzion part of the front end goes, I'm very happy that I did it.. My bike handles good, since it's been done....I don't ever beat on it, or push it, ever, to it's limit(s), but with everyday easy riding, it has been a wonderful experience, since I spent the $$$ to have it serviced, with bigger/better shocks in the front end...

I should hear back from my potential installer soon He wanted to talk with Traxxion and be assured their system would solve my issue. I appreciate that. I'll post something when I finally hear and decide.

    Burnerboy,

I met with my Traxxion installer yeterday. He rode the trike, heard the noises I did and can't firgure out what is causing it either. He said he is intrigued and has offered to checked everything out, ( ride it, pull the forks, check and see if anything is loose in the fairing, etc,) for free. Can't beat that. I'm taking it to him next week since I am in Texas the next week. He said he will not order any parts unless he is reasonably sure Traxxion will fix the issue. Two other guys in my GWRRA chapter have used this man and swear by him. I'll let you know what I find out.

Myself I think there are just a lot of guys who can't afford it or their wives won't let them spend on it so they don't think anyone else should be allowed to have it.
Your last quote must be from a previous personal experience. I am glad you outgrew that.

There are probably some folks that figure they shouldn't spend on things that they really wanted and didn't need and might be tired of throwing good money after bad solutions.

All ribbing aside, I am really curious to see what the TECH finds on the front end and if it is indeed the front suspension (failure), I concede an upgrade should be made.

That's a hard question for anyone to really answer, cause no one has any idea, what is really wrong w/o seeing it themselves with your front end.. Here is the latest update. My installer has taken the forks apart. Bushings really worn. Doesn't know if there is any tube damage yet. He said he feels suspension is very soft. Fork oil very nasty, and had just been changed 10 K ago. He said he thinks Traxxion system has a 95% chance of curing my problem. I told him to go ahead and order it. Talked to a guy at our GWRRA meeting last week who put the same suspension system on his Trike and loves it. Claimed it really improved the suspension. I'll let you know after it is completed.

Got my Trike back last night but was only able to ride it a few miles before I had to trailer it home before this lousy weather hit. Took it down bumpy roads to test the suspension. Really different and a great improvement. Glad I had the system installed. Installer said the more I ride it the more I will like it. With our forecast for the next couple of weeks it may be a while before I can even get on it.
