Handlebar cover removal

Yes, there is a thread, but as a new user it discouraged me from replying a thread over a year old.

I need to get the cover off to adjust the handlbars.

A friend had it off before, but he's owned HD forever, so he whipped through removal/reinstall process.

Just looking for the process to get the cover removed without having spare parts

Have a look below

Under the black cover you will find the screws that hold the chrome cover on

Then you will get to the bolts for the handle bars

Glue the black trim piece back on when you are done

Under the black cover are also 2 access holes, you may loosen 2 bolts on the bars clamps enuf to move them with out total removal of chrome cover

You can use a thin knife blade to pry up the black cover around the fork lock, go easy it will bend and break

had an epiphany @0200 this morning.

realized I was making this way to complicated.

Figured out, remove the black plastic keycover, and screws magically appeared

I have 2015 FW and preparing to replace handlebars. The black trim piece the goes over the fork lock just pops off with by gentlely pulling up on it and there are 2 screws under it that hold the handlebar cover on.

Now to find a longer set of bars to make the ride more confortable

There is no shortage of bar lengths/configurations for sure. Don’t know what your lookin for, reach or height, or both ? Krome Works has the most popular pull back type.

Bar selection can be one of the worst options to get right. I’m sure you know the drill as to the closed eye, sit on seat ,and hold your arms out simulation.
