I have decided I hate pulling my 7x14 V-nose pain in the butt trailer. I am having an open 12 footer built...light and easy! I need the center of weight on the trike. Will help in having the builder draw up the trailer - Chock location etc. My best guess when setting up the other trailer was just about the passenger pegs - Any help other than my wild ass guess would be helpful - Thanks

I converted a boat trailer that has a movable axle. I positioned the axle under the tranny to help offset the ramp weight.

On the 12 footer I built, the front of the tire is 16 5/8 inches from the front edge of the box. My tongue weight is about 12% of the total weight. Position to keep 10 to 16% depends on axle position and length of trailer tongue.

The H-D shop manual says the approximate center of gravity on a TG is about where the clutch is.

I used a bathroom scale under the trailer tongue and moved the trike until I got the tongue weight where I wanted it, 10-15% of loaded trailer weight, then mounted the chocks and hold-down.

That had to be a hell of a bathroom scale! And that would be right about the area I had - maybe a tad forward. Thanks

It was a normal scale, 0-300, loaded trailer weight is 2700, so I was shooting for 270 lbs.

I used this method. Weighed trailer one wheel at a time and then the tongue. Then pulled trike on and slowly moved forward until the weight I wanted was reached. Set up like this the scale shows 1/4 of the actual weight.

This is how i set my trailer up but it was for to dressers,and it towed great.
