Very nice. Glad they pulled it off.
Talk about an under dog getting the bone ... 2 wins to 4 losses in the round robin ... then they win 5 in a row to take the gold.
Very nice. Glad they pulled it off.
The only reason some people are still alive is it's illegal to shoot them.

Yeah, that was cool! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think these games were the first time the US ever beat Canada, true?

Pregame pep talk from Mr T. Now they are their own "A" Team!
Save your breath. Going by many of the posts on the other thread, nobody watched. Apparently many think the games are to political, to much of a money grab, to much doping, etc. Personally, I loved a lot of it including the curling. I really don't understand the strategy of it, but the US team was worth watching for sure. Speed skating, skiing, biathlon, luge, skeleton, and bobsledding were high on my list of favorites along with the womens hockey! Those girls were worth watching too. Did you see how much effort those guys put out in the 50K cross country skiing? WOW! That takes more energy than doing a marathon. Ice skating not so much. The ski jumping, not so much.
This was the first time I've seen so much coverage of curling. In past games the sport barely got a mention, if that. Took a bit to grasp the rules and strategy, but once we understood the game we found it pretty interesting. The wife and I stayed up until 3:30 watching the gold medal round, only to have them show the entire thing the next day.
Shame on me. I watched it the following day. After all a guy needs his sleep and I wasn't going to stay up half the night knowing it would be on in the morning! They had a lot of channels showing different coverage's. At least they did on Directv so it was pretty easy to pick and choose what you wanted to watch. Don't want to watch a couple foreign teams playing hockey? OK, flip to another channel and watch cross country skiing or speed skating. Take your pick. Whatever you passed on will show up later on another channel anyway.
I woke up at about 1am ... the Gold medal game was on in the 7th end ... I got to see the finish live so I'm not quite as "hooked" as you and your wife ... LOL ... but I was recording it and did stay up til it was over and the medal awarded ... I don't really understand the allure of the sport, but, compared to the whiney B$tt's in the NFL kneeling during the anthem, it was very refreshing to see 5 grown men singing the National Anthem and crying if front of God and the world. Maybe that's why lots of people seem drawn to it, whatever the reason ... I'm a fan.
I watched some of the curling. I did find it a bit dull but still was interesting to watch the men's team go for Gold. I was also moved by the fact that these 5 guys had their hand over their hearts and were singing the National Anthem and shedding a few tears. 4 were from Minnesota and 1 from Wisconsin part of the true heartland of the nation. I was also very impressed by the USA Women's Hockey team at the medal ceremony. They all had a flag draped over their shoulders, a hand over their heart and they were signing. These people are true sportsmen and sportswomen not like the way over paid NFL knee benders.
