    Default Anyone using the H-D adjustable backrest ?

    I'm thinking about getting one but wanted some opinions if anyone out there has it installed. Now that the Misses knee is healing up well we've started riding a lot more. Most of our daily rides have been between 80 & 150 miles but the last 2 weekends we've done over 300 each day. Just thinking about adding the backrest for those longer days, any feedback appreciated.

    Hi Zammy,I have the adjustable one and like it.Don't ride without it anymore.

    I have the HD adjustable back rest also. I love it and couldn't ride very long without it. I can easily adjust it with my left hand while riding. Of course to raise or lower the pad a little, you have to do that while stopped. This was one of the first two things I bought for my TGU. It was a little bit of a pain to install until you figure out the correct way to run the cable down to the mount.
    16 TGU Mysterious Red / Velocity Red. FM Ceramic Head pipe and FM E-Series tunable exhaust. PV Target Tune-AT WB Tuner. DK Outlaw 606 AC with EBS, Ward’s FCS fans. DK Custom Oil filter/Cooler relocation kit, Comfort Lift and 14 inch shocks. DK tank lift, wind deflectors, floorboard extenders, and tour pak relocator. Chrome TGU wheels. Bad Ass Lights tail lights. Lighted controls and Krome Works 2+2 narrow handle bars.

    Ditto....except for that "easily adjust it with my left hand" part. I can adjust it, but easy it is not, for me.....just awkward for me to reach.

    LMAO. Well I do have to move my left leg out a good bit and reach down to "feel" the handle, but it gets easy after a few tries. Of course you can't forget there is a hot engine right there also!

    I really like mine and would not ride without it.

    I removed the wind deflector from that side to make it easier to get to. That also helps cool the engine per DK customs recommendation in their report on how to cool the engine.

    The valve for the cylinder or cable seems to be a little finicky in that it takes a while to close and lock the rest into place once you make an adjustment.

    I like mine. The only downside for me is that the backrest doesn't fold down as much as advertised for passenger mounting/dismounting.

    Wife and I both like it. Me for the backrest and she likes having something in front of her besides just my back.

    It was the 1st or 2nd mod I added. For me the adjustment feature makes riding more comfortable.

    Yes. I think everyone above has said all that is needed. LOL

    I have the manual adjustable one. I think the tilt/angle is great, but have adjusted the height a few times on longer rides to put pressure on different parts of my back. A backrest makes a huge difference for me in steering. You can plant your back against it and put some force against the bars to get it to turn easier. Without it I might have developed 6 pack abs by now, but something I'm willing to give up for easier turning.

    Had mine put on before I even rode. Bad back and it works great. Only con I can find is that there a seats that say won't work with it. Why I don't know.

    I had mine on my Ultra. When I bought the trike I moved it to the trike and a Zeplin seat. I love it and it is a little bit of a pain to adjust while riding. I think I am going to remove the wind deflector so it can be reached better. DK says that the deflector should be removed so air can go through anyway. My wife likes having it to hang on to.
    Rear lift kit, and tour pak relocation, Road Zepplin Air seat, Chrome front forks, SE 120 ST engine, Headers by V&H, Stock mufflers, SE 259E cams, TTS tuner and SE Air Cleaner, 58 mm Throttle Body, Tank lift, Wind Deflectors, DIY Crankcase Breather, Floorboard Ext.

    I don't have the adjustable one on my 2012 Triglide. I do have the stationary one that they say doesn't fit the Triglide. I had the stationary one on my Road King and then got one for this bike. I never felt I needed the adjustable one. I have ridden 400 miles plus days with this backrest and it does great. I have 4 fusions in my spine and I couldn't ride without it. Don't believe that the stationary ones wont work on your trike. Mine went on in just a few minutes.

    Get it! Gotta have it. No downside to that add-on. One of the very first items I added too.

    I have a stationary one I got from Mustang. I didn't see the need to be able to adjust while riding. I did want one that would lay down flat and not spring up while my wife got on/off. This is the only one I found that would do that. I do love the support that it gives for your back, makes a huge difference.

    Thanks everyone for your input, sounds like I can't go wrong. I'm glad Dave chimed in about the Zeppelin seat as that is what we have also. Also I've been thinking about getting rid of the left side deflector, I guess now would be as good as any time.
