Paint Ding Repair

Seems I have tried every thing I can think of to repair those pesky dings with no success. Any suggestions out there?

If your referring to rear fender chips, spray on bed liner seems to be this weeks favorite

You aren't alone in the chip repair department. Spray on bedliner is not an option for me. I'd just like to be able to fix a minor chip that doesn't look like a moron did it. Moron being me of course.

This is something I been doing on my 17 blue T G I took a crayon that matches the color heated the fender with a hairdryer and I rubbed the crayon on the chip let it cool down then just waxed over it and it's perfect match 📞

I've been told by my body shop that there is a clear vinyl wrap material designed to be a rock shield. You can see it on the lower rear body flares on a lot of newer cars to protect the paint. I haven't followed up with the wrap people about it yet. Might be worth a try.

Ditto Cowboy. I've watched Dr Colorchip, looks good, but who knows how good it works. At the price, I'm reluctant to spend the dollars just to find out if it works.

I have the Harley clear panels on the trike. Works pretty good but I have a few places that have chips below where the film ends.

I have bought a paint pack from Harley for the triglide. Based upon experience working on guitar finishes I have learned to fill the chip marks with a sharp pointed item, tooth pick, guitar string, needle, etc. I have never used the brush that is in the lid, it goes on like fingernail polish. I do not sand anything. Make sure the hole is clean, dip the tip of what you are using into the paint and carefully fill in the hole. Do not get in a rush doing this, it will take many times usually to fill the hole and will need to crust very lightly between attempts to fill the hole. When I think I have it almost level, I will let it crust and then gently wipe to make sure it is level. You can alway add more, but you don’t want to over fill, hard to take away without shaving with razor blade. Then add clear if needed.

His product works very well and is almost impossible to see by others. You nearly have to be told it's there. I only wish I got the stuff sooner and under it I have chip I tried and of course failed, to fill back it. But at least I'm not getting any more chips. I actually did the shape needed for my Indian front fender which is what I'm talking about. But I'd have no trouble getting one of his kits.
