Let it pass, I would rather follow it and observe it
With the recent news of a driverless car striking and killing a pedestrian, what would you do if you were out on your trike and looked in your mirror to see a driverless car behind you ?
Let it pass, I would rather follow it and observe it

Nothing , Just be observant, IE ; Checking my mirrors its no different then someone texting on a cell phone, Combing their hair/makeup Or looking over you like your not there.. Even with with hands free phones , I have seen people talking/looking at their dashboard and not looking at the road...

I really think that as more and more of these show up on the roads it's only a matter of time before one of them runs over one of us.
I truly do not 'get it.' The Federal government and its agencies are all over anything that affects our safety or even upsets us for goodness sake. They mandate all sorts of safety features for vehicles yet allow these (in my opinion) ticking time bombs to be developed and deployed. Personally I think they should be outlawed. I don't care how many million or billion lines of code some computer geek can devise it simply cannot evaluate situations as well as a human - well a human that is paying attention and not texting, lol.
I wouldn't hold my breath. "Personal Responsibility" is fast becoming an archaic notion and there are too many in Government (and those who elected them) that think that the Government Nanny State is the only answer. Too many "Life's too hard, do it for me" whiners out there.
As for self drivers not seeing motoercycles, how many of us have had a driver pull up to the road, look right at us, make eye contact, and pull right out in front of us? Thet're ALL out to get us!
Well, if I saw a car approaching that obviously did not have a human driver behind the wheel (driverless) I would definitely try to get out of any possible harm’s way if I could, whether I thought it was a robot or a run-a-way car with a person slumped out of sight.
But how would you know that the car is, or is not, being driven by a human if indeed there is a human sitting behind the wheel? Are they going to be highly graphically marked so that everyone knows what they are?
I do not like the idea of them at all.

I personally don't like the idea of them at all. Having worked around electronics my whole life it is not a fool-proof thing. I would let it pass, don't want it behind me.

I fear transportation moving this direction is one of the things that endangers the future of our sport as much as anything. The generation coming up now really doesn't even like driving so the driverless car is perfect for them. With the way they scream loud and get a kneejerk reaction to their wants if we are the obstacle to these cars simply because the car have trouble detecting us we could be done. With the trouble traffic lights have detecting us these things scare the crap outta me.
Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Trouble detecting us? Given the choice, I would take the computer over a texter any day. At least the computer is trying. Until they disable cell phones in moving vehicles humans will never be safer than computers...
I hate cars of all types, a driverless car all the more reason to put distance between us. after all they do just the speed limit right? they wont chase me like people do to get a pic?
