    Default Towing in the Rain

I will be heading to Texas Monday morning and the weather forecast is calling for rain. Is a TriGlide waterproof? Should I put a plastic bag over the air inlet? I know I can't tarp it if I want to have a paint job left when I get out of the weather. Any suggestions?

54 views, thus far, and no responses.

It will not hurt your bike to get wet.

There's always a chance of getting caught in the rain while riding, so no difference if it's on a trailer!

Thanks. I am hoping not to be in the weather for too long.

Rain makes it a stronger trike. If you have an open air filter, a bag is not a bad idea. I don’t think you would have any open electronic stuff, camera, etc that you would want to leave attached. I was caught in a heavy rain in El Paso and I was scooping water with the front of the rear fenders and not a single issue. Just button down everything. Be safe. Jim

IMO your trike should be fine

    They are pretty water tight

I have logged a lot of miles riding in the rain

Couple years ago I rode home from MN during a tropical storm

The last 8 hrs was a pretty heavy rain, my Trike did fine, No issues

It'll be fine in the rain.

Make sure to disable your alarm/put it in trailer mode when towing, otherwise you may end up with a dead battery upon arrival.

I've never done it myself, but just looked in my Owners Manual, not the big Service Manual, the little one that comes with the bike.

In the back, at the Index, I saw they had the "Transport Mode" section listed on page 92. May be different in your manual.

The directions should be in your owners manual. Just a couple simple steps, so not hard to do. I do look in the manual when I do it, 'cause I don't trailer the trike enough to remember!!

I also tie a fob to the handle bar, so I figure I am covered either way. Works for me.

It must be waterproof. I bought my Tri-Glide at Black Hills Harley last year during the Sturgis rally. As I was heading home, I ran into the biggest rain storm that I've ever been in. (Driving a motorcycle anyway). We were in the storm for at least 6 hrs. So, it must be waterproof. Just close the Vent on the Faring.

The Tri-Glide is Waterproof only to a depth of about two feet....But they are water resistance in the rain and snow, They have to be they are outdoor machines....

Don't worry They can take a lot of rain.... But no hi-presure hoses....

We used to tow on an open trailer behind our RV all the time. Won't hurt your Harley but it will get it a little dirty. I always kept a closer eye on the weather though and would pull off if any radar showed "red" headed my way. Didn't want to take a chance on getting caught out there in a hail storm. Several times we located an exit where the road went under so we could park and be protected.

At first I thought this was an early April Fools post, then I thought maybe he's never owned a motorcycle before. At least I know he's never ridden in the rain.
