Looking to see data on M8 problems
I have 16,350 miles and NO major issues yet
How ever I have been hearing of major issues like transfer of tranny oil into the primary
What say you M8 owners?

I'm at about 5,000 miles on my 2017 FW & no major problems with the new M8. I also want to mention I have a California model.
I've read a lot on the transmission fluid migrating to the differential, but I don't know anyone that's had the problem.
From what I read, that was happening prior to the new M8 coming out.
I will also keep an eye & ear out for automatic chain tensioner not functioning on it's own.
So far, I honestly feel like it's running better every tankfull This will be my 1st. full summer with it & I will be looking for heat issues. My only engine mods are:
1. K&N air filter in the stock box.
2. HD Coolflow fan
3. Not really an engine mod, but I did a DK Custom 1.5" tank lift to increase air flow/cooling over the M8.
4. I did get this error code once, ECM-P0522 with P/N 001349-01 which is a low voltage oil pressure sensor. Cleared it once & it never returned. Keep in mind, Jack and I have both had this come up once.
Here is a link to the thread on the error code :

My dealer said he's had more than one with the oil migrating, I just had my 5 thousand service and oil change, And he ask me after a thousand miles on this change bring it in they would check it out ....Just in case....
Otherwise the only other thing is that when i run the gas tank low a alert comes up on the screen ,Saying low Gas , Do you want to find the nearest gas station, When i press yes, It will tell me where it is, But i still have to pay for the gas myself........

Yeah, I still don't trust the jiffy lube mentality of dealer fluid services
I know of 1 dealer that has used wash tech guys and sales people to do fluid changes in their back shop
I guess I am TOO uptight, I measure what I drain out
That takes some of the guess work out of the equation + with Redline in the tranny, The primary would have a bit of red tint if I had a bad enough migration problem + it would be over full from my last service I document everything I do to my bikes and back it up on my computer
I have stapled extra pages in my owners manual for documentation

Would running a "Redline" brand gear oil void the factory warranty if there ever was a mech. failure or oil migration issue, Jack? (20-50 Syn3 is the "stock" oil in the trans, no?)
Isn't it weird that in AMERICA, our flag and our culture offend so many people...but our benefits don't???
So is oil migration the only Problems with the M8?
I'll probably replace my 2015 freewheeler with the new M8!
Dave
There were a couple early production problems, which were fixed.
Like I stated, I don't believe the tranny oil migrating to the differential was limited to the M8's & I don't know anyone who has the problem.
I know 1 thing, I could have got low mileage 15 or 16 Freewheeler 's, but I choose the new M8 & I'm glad I did. So far, it's been a pleasure.

Some of the Twin Cooled M8 had some oil pump problems
Some were talking about loose valve seats, tho I have not seen this
IMO, alot of the problems could be over blown
I know that the first run of new platforms takes a beating from nay sayers, not that their problems aren't real
I just cannot believe all the negative
