    What is the going price on 5000 mile checkup and oil change? 2017 Tri-Glide.
    2022 Tri-Glide Black.

    Depends on your Dealer, ( IMHO it's over priced. )

    One Dealer here is having a special this month for $299

    It varies from dealer....My guy doesn't charge labor for the 1k and 5k, When you buy a Trike from them...I just last week had the 5k done on my 17 T/G...116.51 Dollars out the door...

    Looking at an old bill he charged for the 30k for my [ex] 11 T/G 207 Dollars..

    About $450-500. 75% of it is checking torque/tightness of various fastners. If your at all mechanically inclined, there are some step by step videos on YouTube that are excellent & very informative. Just make sure it's on the M8 engine.

    Mike, Guess thats what some dealers have to charge, My guy went though the whole trike, nuts bolts adjusted the park brake, checked the belt/adjusted, torqued the lug nuts.. And set the spot/fog lights to stay on with the high beams....And he has a Trike wash booth and any Trike he works on is washed..I guess thats why he's in the same location since 1956..

    And just to add, I don't there for price...He's 80 miles from me..I go there for the people that work there, And i trust them...If he charged 400 dollars i still would go there..

    I am mechanically inclined, but I worry about the warranty. My dealer wants $285.00 With Syn. 3 and Chrome filter. From what you Gent's are saying, $285.00 isn't so bad. Thanks all. Jerry

    You are NOT required to take in

    As long as you keep GOOD records and receipts You can do your own work

    Most of the scheduled maintenance is checking things on your trike

    I do ALL my own work INCLUDING the 1k mile

    Same here and I've had major engine failures on several 110" Twin Cam motors and they never ever asked me a single thing about maintenance.

    I do all my own services and when I traded my 2017 CVO Limited it had almost 10k on it. While inspecting for trade in value the service tech noted that it needed 10k service and would deduct the cost of that from the trade in value. I told them I would do it and they agreed and did not deduct for it.

    Dealer personnel will try to scare you with horror tales of warranty repair denials if you don't use their lubricants and they don't do the service. Pure BS as far as I'm concerned and the Federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act prohibits 'tie in' sales that require you to purchase parts and services from the manufacturer or their designated service center. As long as you document use of products that meet the same specs as the Harley ones and document the services you did you should have absolutely no worries as far as warranty coverage is concerned.

    Shop around , My Dealer only charges his hourly rate, not those BS flat rates. Some of these dealers are just terrible with their flat rates.

    If you have a good shop and trust the people then by all means stay with them. I have a guy I use, he is a good dude just trying to make an honest living.

    A big +1 Jack! I actually enjoy doing the service & it doesn't take that long to go down the checklist.

    I let the dealer I purchased the trike from in CA do the 1,000 mile service as I didn't pay for it. My son took care of it as him & the owner are good friends. I love good deals.

    +1 on doing it yourself ... there's a sense of accomplishment in that. Not to mention that you know it's done right.

    There are sights all over the web that have actual Harley service tech check lists. I use them and initial and sign for each. I then attached the receipts for parts and oils. All stored in a scan (digital) and in a file folder.

    Not as hyper about it on this bike, since HD isn't warranting it, but, I do have an extended aftermarket on it.

    On the 1k service, on the M8 engines, there is a service item that I bet most Harley dealers are overlooking which is a one-time torque check of the oil pan bolts. This aspect of service appears to be unique to the M8 engines. I couldn't figure out a way to get a torque wrench into that spot so let my Harley dealer perform that one item and document it so that my 1k service was complete. The 5k service and subsequent services do not list this task as a service item and I did my 5k service myself. It helps to buy a genuine HD belt tension checker for the Tri Glide as there are no markings for how much deflection you should get unless you know the proper pressure to apply.
